Well I wasn't sure. I've read a few reviews. Looked at izotope's site. And there appears to be no modulation of the bands. I'll DL the demo and have a look. Thanks
Have a look again. The filters can be modulated with lfo. Either the Q-factor or width or whatever.

However the actual split of bands is a set fixed frequencies. Some questions arise:

a) Why do you want multiband distortion?
With Trash you can apply different distortion algorithms to each band(up to 4 or them).
b) Why not use modulated filters?
What exactly is it about modulating the actual bands. A modulated bandpassfilter how does that not do what you want?
You choose from several filter types if you like.

I found some real spicy tremololike sounds with modulating a heavy distorted guitarsignal with a filter.

And in the end you can run several trash after each other too.

Delta Force's mid band sweeping with that great bitcrusher
If you can wait a little bit, then the update for delta force (gamma force) has lots of extra features, including modulation sources built in :) be avaialble soon

in fact you can do multiband modulation as well as mulitband distortion in Trash. You got threee modulators with can be set to different bandwiths.

Great news Paul. I can't wait. Delta Force is already a great sounding plug, and I just love the way the three bands move completely independant of each other. Is Gamma going to replace Delta, or is it meant to complement it?

I will have a look at Trash, if I find time this weekend. I had ready thought of trying it out with Quad-Frohmage, but had second thoughts when as the bandpass only go as steep as 18db, which I was thinking wasn't steep enough. Also I'm look for more variety in distortion types and QF has 2 types, although you can mix between the 2, but I won't to try some constrasting types (no problem with Trash there!) [yet again I would put a smiley here - what with the smiley restrictions????] :-{

You read my mind young troll. !-D This'll finally give me a reason to get eXT.

I'm leaving my options open at the moment to see which I like the most. I just wish I had the time this weekend to do it all, on top of setting up my new PC and having an actual social life.

Look deep at Trash. It is to date the most sophisticated distortion plugin IMHO no one else is even close for distortion/amp sim experimentation in a plugin. there are so many variables dealing with the structure it is quite extensive. I also happen to like the sounds I'm getting from it.

Very curious what you are trying to do by modulating the crossovers themselves.

Know that in multiband mode you have a pre filter for each band and I think by playing with modulating that (as well as the post trash filters) you would get the equivalent...

Hmmm, probably 'cos I didn't how it would be done with the pre-filter. But now you say each band has it's own pre-filter, well I think I know how it would be done now, if not a variation. But then again I'm a bit hungover, so it's all a bit hazy :drunk:

Thanks for the kind words, it means a lot to me and chris that our plugins are liked :) Technically speaking The gammas are updates to the Delta plugins. We took the original ideas and added loads of stuff people asked us for..
K let me give you a few specs for Gamma Force :
8 bands, 7 filter types to choose from per band, 14 distortion types to choose from per band, modulators on each band, full internal mixer, 64 bit signal path throughout, full midi control, plus lots more..(please note that these specifications may be subject to change - me and chris are still discussing various options).
It will be a commercial plugin, available in a pack with GammaFilter. We are committed to producing freeware and as such we will be producing freeware version of both filter and force. Oh and we have added mac versions too :)

If you would like to join the beta group (beta starting soon, probably about 1 months time), please drop me an email at paul[at]expdigital[dot]co[dot]uk
Also if anyone has suggestions for force or filter, pleae drop me an email at the same addy and ill try and incorporate them :)

All the best
Paul
