a mixing screen?

I think it's a good idea; it's hardly 'feature bloat' - I certainly don't use every single feature Tracktion offers and I don't consider it bloated - it's just about having the option, and I've said before, I think it would be a positive step to encourage migration from other traditional apps, and it could be disabled when you don't need to use it anymore. Good work fella!

Well, I don't mix in Tracktion at all...I only track in it, for the simple fact i consider it a DOG to mix with. I use Audition to mix and master, and I my humble opinion, nothing touches audition for this purpose. I just like the idea, for use when tracking. Grabbing at those meters on the side is clumsy for me. Fire away!

The main reason I switched to Tracktion was the fact that the work flow didn't rely on a mixer. That's what sold me.

Isn't that what the BIG meters are for?earthtoclinton wrote:Grabbing at those meters on the side is clumsy for me. Fire away!

No, sorry I was talking about the volume/pan filters, not the meters down the left hand side. I like the "big meter" view.

Meters are usefull for things that you can't hear. They're very usefull for phaseing problems. many times you can combine 2 identical tracks, and one might be out of phase and one will cancell the other out much in the way news helicopters use an out-of-phase mic in the chopper to cancel out the noise of the chopper over the newscaster's vox

I believe you would have exactly the same workflow available to you if there were a mixer as requested here. You wouldn't have to use itflanneljammies wrote:The main reason I switched to Tracktion was the fact that the work flow didn't rely on a mixer. That's what sold me.

Why don't all you pro-mixer folks just use one of the many plugins available? If a native mixer was added to T, I would consider moving on...

That's what I'm saying. I personally wouldn't really need it. However, I do know that many here would like to have it. I just offered the suggestion as a way to accomplish this without comprimising anything. Maybe it wouldn't work, who knows.

Come to think of it, I don't use the native EQ that comes with Tracktion, since I prefer my URS and Sonalksis plugs. I guess I'll have to switch back to Nuendo.flanneljammies wrote:Why don't all you pro-mixer folks just use one of the many plugins available? Can you name two or three of the "many" mixer plug-ins available for T?

That's the spirit! And since I don't use the native Sampler, I'll ditch T as well!jplanet wrote:Come to think of it, I don't use the native EQ that comes with Tracktion, since I prefer my URS and Sonalksis plugs. No one is suggesting going that route.Tingle wrote:first a mixer, then floating windows and finally shiney mock metal buttons.
There are LOTS of sequencers with this style already. Tracktion is unique and has loads of character.

One time buyers? Get off the soap box man. Tracktion needs ghost midi clips, folder tracks, more destructive audio editor, better time stretch, and several other enhancements. Tracktion already has a mixer, not a conventional one, but its perfectly capable of mixing.lharless wrote:im gonna say this once again...
it would be better for most of us to be able to have the option to remove functionality than to not have it there at all..
i guess a one time buyer is all that julian expects out of the lot of us? buy it once, see that it limits you and then move on to a more suitable application?
i mean, business is business. this aint a date. it's the software that we make money with. either put the wanted functionality inside, or you will create one time buyers that will move on, and they will tell alot of people about their experience. it won't be good for business.
it's really that simple, i don't care what you're dreams or intentions are.
sorry to be so blunt, but that's life.
Having a mini-half-ass mixer in the properties wouldnt even provide any new functionality. I mean if Jules for some crazy reason decides to make a mixer, it better be a fully featured mixer with EQ's, sends, busses etc. Then again if I want that I could already get that in any of the other sequencers.
