OK. Problem solved. This win98 installation had never seen T or T2 before today, so on a hunch, I downloaded the old 1.6 version and installed it. Then reran the setup for T2. Everything seems to work now.

I installed T2 and it does work.
So far everything seems to be working propperly.
I recieved an error message that re-wire didn't install propperly and might not work propperly and that there was trouble creating shortcuts.
The problem I have is that it is not recognizing my midi inputs.
I have midi yoke and Hubi's loopback installed on my computer and all versions of T1 have always recognized them.
T2 does not see them. The panel is empty and I can't find a way to make T2 see them.
I use Trollo to use my computer keyboard to enter live midi and without these midi in/outs I won't be able to record midi.
win 98se.

PT, have you tried trashing your Traction preferences. Actually I would just move them and do a relaunch to see if that helps.

Were the MIDI devices working on WIn98SE pior to installing T2? I believe that Win98SE does not have native support for USB MIDI devices. You will need a 3rd party river, if one exists.

The midi devices I use always worked in T1 under win98se.
I am talking about midi yoke and Hubi's loopback which I use with Trollo to use my computer keyboard to enter midi notes. They are virtual devices that are installed as hardware.
With T1 on the settings page under audio there is that panel labeled midi devices and midi-yoke and Hubi's loopback is listed. I have been using these for about a year now.
Every audio app I hace installed recognizes these midi devices. Only T2 does not.

I'm on Win98SE, and I purchased the boxed version from Sweetwater and it sits on the shelf still, as I'm afraid to install it based on all the heartache that seems to be associated with it.
I have T1 running just fine, but I bought T2 to get in on the rebate (my check just came in the mail yesterday).
I plan on getting a new PC soon with XP of course, and I was waiting to install T2 there.
My midi input device is a Creative SB Live Platinum card with the Live Drive.
Should this work, or not, with the latest T2 release?
What backups of plugin directories, etc. should be made?
I want to move the directory where I have T installed so that it's at the top of my explorer tree, rather than being buried down so deep. Is this possible without causing major issues?
