It's a licensing issue, not technical.

Any chance Receptor can run an iLok on its USB port??

Post

I have Waves Diamond Bundle and an APA32 that I got for $350 after rebate when I upgraded from Waves Platinum to Diamond. I hooked up the APA32 today and it is NOT useful. You can only load maybe 12 of Waves Plugins and it doesn't seem to take to much load off my CPU.

If the Receptor supported iLok on its USB port, the VST-WaveShell could be mounted in a Receptor when it finds a valid license on the iLok, roght??

Forgive me if I'm making this too simple...

I will volunteer to test if needed...and I'm in CA.

Receptor does support the iLok. Actually, Receptor ships with an iLok. But, iLok protected Windows plug-ins do not automatically work on Receptor. The manufacturer - in this case Waves - has to protect their plug-ins specifically for Receptor.

Waves, does not want their plug-ins to run on Receptor. It's not that they are busy and it is a low priority, they just do not want this to happen. Why? We don't know exactly, but we could speculate that they see Receptor as competition for their hardware boxes.

We would love to have the Waves plug-ins running on Receptor. One thing you could do is write to Waves, or post on their forum if they have one, and tell them what you said here. If enough customers express the desire to have Waves plug-ins running on Receptor, maybe they will change their mind.

I'm not sure what plug-ins exactly you are using, but if you are interested in EQ and compression you should take a look at the Sonalksis plug-ins (http://www.sonalksis.com/) Those are high end plug-ins that rival in quality with the Waves plug-ins, and they are supported on Receptor with the iLok.
