i think he meant 'spastical', which i still don't think is really a word

i think the point he's getting at is that you seemed to be getting 'all spastic'

which i don't think you were doing, personally.

i mean, we can't see you, as far as I know. we only get the words you type

so if you were all spastic about your post it should look something like

I can just picture the bass instructor, fuming and full of fury, intently listening to King Crimson and suddenly crying out "DID YOU HEAR THAT?! That's what I meant! It's ALL WRONG!!!!! A child could do better. FEH."

Don't worry, Mr. Instructor. Some day the world will appreciate your (tragically misunderstood) genius.

I was playing in a free jazz gig at college. I started playing a tune and my teacher stopped me and said "No, no. You can't play tunes". If there are things you can't do, why the f(*&%k do they call it free jazz?! :bang:

I don't even know what "spasical" means, but it does not matter. I know the thread you refer to, but still don't think it was a racist thing about the Bee Gees.
Difference of opinion and since I repect your opinion and right to that opinion, let's just leave it at that?

i start to fume after eating you folks?

out of the ears or what?

No no no -- waiting man's bass instructor, the one who knew better than the members of King Crimson (and I'll be he doesn't go doubling his "r"s either).

On the other paw, you might fume if if you were to... no, let's not go there.

"That's just noise" (about Bartoks third string quartet).

"That isn't music". (about 'Arcana' by Varese).

Just about everything I have ever seen written about Schoenberg.

But the top award goes to the people who write record reviews at Rolling Stone.

And they outdo themselves again and again.

He'd better be careful, tony levins will bust in on his hell/cycle and use his special "chops" on him.....

Propably the stupidest thing I've seen so far is...

"music is a tool to spread political / social / whatever-related-to-similar-subjects messages"

sometimes with an added 'good' in there (as in "music is a good tool...").

If only I lived in a world where music was done for the sake of itself, not to spread propaganda, highly subjective personal opinions and so on.

I don't really like most of the lyrics - or mostly, just vocals, to be frank - because 99% of the contents are totally useless, done a million times before, etc. yadda yadda. Of course, I feel this way because I'm exposed to the musical fodder on the charts on a daily basis.

(I do dig vocals and lyrics in music where socio-politico-economico-whatever-nomico issues aren't commented by people whose opinion and views hold little value on the subject despite the good intensions behind it... gimme Portishead over any whining about the society and I'm a happy camper :))

I've been waiting a long time to air this opinion, finally there's a thread where it's suitable :D

Arthritic.

Okay, I won't rag anyone for altering my typing, since my paws alter the text I send to them for keyboarding.

And no, I won't go there. I'm happily mated to the world's most adorable skunkette, and not interested in other offers. :-)
