There is a difference between just criticism and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Constructive criticism is respectful in a company's own forum. Just bashing the product or company is not.snooky wrote:OT:
Squids, why aren't ppl allowed to type critisim about the products?
I have tried SS and it doesn't work very well in logic 5.51, and imo the sounds where kinda crap...that's my experience with the product..now, let's se if this post stays here, it's valid critisim from my behalf.
Anyway, if you think the sounds were crap then you are 1 out of thousands that don't though and you gave no reason, no specifics so your comments aren't worth much to anyone. How many user reviews of SS1 or SS2 do you read on KVR where anyone says that? It's been reviewed here more than most plug-ins. It used to be in the top 5 on ratings for the longest time. You think everyone else doesn't know anything and it has been flat out "crap" all this time?
Probably a more accurate description would be that you didn't like the sounds personally. They didn't work for your style of music or whatever. Crap would suggest that we don't know what we're doing or something. Bad sample recordings, instrument selection, programming etc. However, we're no spring chickens at the task. Why would all the best companies in the world including IK, M-Audio, Propellerheads, Ilio, Yamaha, Steinberg, NI, Emagic, Roland, Alesis come to SR for sampling? Because we're really CRAP at it?
The reason a post like that would get deleted is because it can easily just be someone (even a jealous competitor unfortunately) intentionally bad-mouthing us. If anyone wants to be critical then go right ahead but have something more specific to say, perhaps constructive. This is our company forum. We provide it so we can get feedback from our users. If someone says it is just "crap" then there's nothing we can do about that! "Oh, sorry lad, next time we'll try not to make it so crappy for you". But, if you say "oh, I wish the piano sound had more dynamics to it" then maybe we'd answer with "SS2 has a 152 meg triple strike piano waiting for you" or if someone said "Man, the harpsichord and flute in SS1 just don't have the depth and realism I was hoping for" then we'd possibly say "we've done a bonus disc with some new harpsichords and flutes".
That's how things work around here. We don't provide a platform for people to just bash us and try to harm our image. Sorry. Maybe other forums have little to no moderation and you are used to people being abusive. But, the people who appreciate our forum don't like to see people be blatantly disrespectful. I've never met anyone who would say something like that to my face. Just because we type anonymously doesn't mean that there isn't responsibility for what we say and how we conduct ourselves in the presence of others.
Be respectful and say all the positive and negative things you want! If you can't be then we don't want you to participate in our company forum. It is for users of our products who want to appreciate them or for us to make more products that come closer to their needs. We don't expect to please everyone because everyone's tastes (not to mention sensibility, talent, experience, intelligence and skill) are different. However, I think we have one of the highest ratios of satisfied customers/users in this business, especially from professionals in the industry who make music for a living.

Proof right there and I don't remember ever deleting one of your posts. In fact, to be honest, I took your constructive criticism as well as many others here to make Sonik Synth 2 that much better. What else can we do?DevonB wrote:He did say SS not SS2. I was not a fan of SS either. SS2 is significantly better though. It's the 'builders' synth library. You want lots and lots of layers to work with, it's all there for you.harmony gardens wrote:Sure it's valid,,, but you're gonna have huge SS2 fans like me responding. I love SS2. I've been playing keyboards for longer than I care to admit, and IMHO, SS2 is amazing. To me, it's like going to a vintage keyboard store and bringing home everything they got. It's my personal favorite eSoundz purchase.snooky wrote:OT:

Anyway, people like to just test the waters. If they want to think that we just delete negative posts then let them. It's a snap judgement. Those that really pay attention and read posts regularly here know where we stand. Plus, it the delicate foundation upon which a forum like this can exist is also explained in our "welcome to" thread.
I do hate to let people think we just try to keep things rosey and squeaky clean around here. But, if that is what they want to think then fine. Fuggit. I've been around here too long to keep thinking I have to defend that. People know when they are just being obnoxious and trolling. Sorry we don't want that kind of thing here! I don't think Ben likes it all that much either but I know that he supports us moderating the forum the way that we do.
Okay, got trolled didn't I? Next...

You did delete one post, but it was for a reasonable reason (you didn't want me posting what other vendors had SS cheaper.)Squids wrote: Proof right there and I don't remember ever deleting one of your posts. But otherwise, no, you didn't delete my posts.

Simple music philosophy - Those who can, make music. Those who can't, make excuses.

Right. You would remember that.
(memory like an elephant!

For anyone new to the forum, that kind of stuff is explained in the "welcome to our forum" thread. It's delicate politics for us having a forum being a sound developer who works with a lot of different companies and has so many distributors (in fact, more than most sound developers tend to). To add in that we are affiliated with a retail outlet, esoundz as well (which funds us being here more directly) is just something we have to be careful about with respect to prices (ie. even forum posts can be considered "advertising" and there are things like "MAP" to respect etc.) and then there is the courtesy of not bragging too hard about the free international shipping things you get or the value of your currency vs. the dollar etc etc... I know where we have to moderate to keep that balance though and allow us to continue to keep this place around.
Back on topic shall we? Where were we? Oh yes. Philharmonik!
