Somehow I find this all too ironic. But I'm enjoying Milestone way too much to complain. :)

Back in France, I made some adjustments.
Seeing real strat videos, I though I had to give an answer, even modestly (I don't have amplitube or guitar rig :? ).
So I did 3 new videos which I hope can tell realstrat like it is 8) :

Bass
SRV guitar ryhthm + solo (clean)
SRV guitar ryhthm + solo (crunchy)

The bass in the two guitar examples is also Dark Lady, of course.
The drums are Addictive Drums demo.

The crunchy guitar volume was a bit too low compared to the bass  . I'm not a mastering guru...

The sound clips a bit too, and drops due to ressources consumption (screen recording during realtime sequencer playback = ouch!).

You can hear that even the clean guitar sound isn't too bad (to me at least). Also notice the slides and squeaks. That's where it definitely leaves samplers light years behind.

About the release date (I guess that's the only thing that matters for you) :
I'm thinking about it, but the cpu consumption would bring me a lot of complains (although it can still play a fast tune with all strings in real time, with a screen recorder on as you can see), so I'm waiting for some answers from people who would be able to C++ it. Even if releasing the current SE version is tempting, my "do it right or don't do it" moto still stings a bit ;-)

awesome Mokafix !!!!
when do you think you will release it? :?: :D

How about a freeware SE version with clearly displayed 'seriously diminished performance' message somewhere, and selling the c++ version for a low price? Ofcourse once the c++ version's done, you could replace the SE freeware with a feature-limited version of the new one.

:O

Exactly how big is this thing currently? Cause it sounds pretty darned good for something synthesized/physically modelled.

The dll is 13 Mb, the impulses folder is 298 ko :P (they could be simply synthesised too, but I'm quite happy wih them for now, so I keep them as mini samples).

Ok, I really wanted to demo the slide more, so I covered Beck's "loser" song.

I don't have a dobro or sitar body emulation on it (yet), as it's a bass, so it's an electric guitar cover.

I tuned the guitar DADG, put all the notes and chords down to open notes, and then did the melody just with pitch bending.
The bass in the back is Dark Lady too, the drums are still addictive. The other guitar parts added to the main one in the end are also Dark Lady

Loser slide video

The sound drops a bit during the slide part in the beginning, because bending on 3 strings like that takes some cpu (I remind you that during that, a screen recorder is processing behind), but during the other melody it's ok.

Ok, now the gauntlet has been thrown.
Come on realstrat ! Make me a loser!

Hi Mokafix,

Good to see you are back on the "development wagon" ... :D

Impressive Mokafix, though I wouldn't advertise it as "guitar VSTi", for this it just sounds too crappy IMO and RealStrat is still a killer in this section (also in terms of "playing" - as user of both RealGuitar and RealStrat it was like a holy grail to finally have access to "easy" keyswitches, unlike LPC or Chris Hein), though RealStrat lacks the "pickup change" feature.

The Pickup Change feature is actually something that made me think "dude, when do I get my claws on it? And how much will it cost?" - among all bass VSTi's and samplepacks, this could be a killer. Though I kinda miss round-robin in terms of sound. The fast play sounded totally static to me. Then again I know it's still in Beta Phase.

I'm looking forward to this VSTi - not for Guitar, but for Bass. And I really hope Musiclab adapts the idea of "changing pickups" - and maybe you also think about adapting plektri rather than finger pickings alone.
