Interesting looking at those 2KHz self oscillation graphs. Looks to me pretty well like much of the differences are down to distortion (which is always what I figured mostly - I notice the more character filters (i.e. notice the MS20 one) have strong harmonics all the way up - nice and regular in 2KHz steps, but lots of it, and you can spot different patterns to it, such as every 2nd harmonic being raised. Notice the Juno106 (which I've stated again and again here is utterly over-rated as an analogue - it's lifeless and sterile) has very few harmonics - I'd imagine a Synthedit filter graph would look much the same as the 106 one. TBH, I actually thought there would be more random patterns to some of the filters - surprised by how uniform most of them are...
Surprised by the Moog filter too - much different pattern. (TBH I don't really like Moogs - the only one I ever liked was a big P3 modular stuffed full of every module and 9 oscillators - but how couldn't anyone like one of those?).
But yeah - I think that was a good choice of demos. Those that have never heard stuff put through analogue filters via external input don't realise how good and how creative they can be and what us old farts are constantly banging on about. Very nice to hear it being done so effectively via s/w now. I really am impressed by Strobes filters.
Keep those demos coming - we can just soak them up for weeks (although I'm sure you've all got loads of more useful things you need to be doing).
