They can always make more later selling instruments and add-ons. Not for sure mind you, but it's possible.LawrenceF wrote:But I'd be a little surprised if it "lists" at $149 or $179

As relates to business partnerships (or employment contracts) people typically don't leave with valuable things that don't actually belong to them in any case. That's theft. If they're using any code they created during their time at Ableton (which is 100% speculation) it's because they actually own it ... or the right to use it. Those types of things - if there is any dispute - are typically hashed out during a separation agreement or termination meeting or similar.UncleAge wrote: I think the thing that most folk might be overlooking is that they probably wouldn't want to use any of the old code. I think many a programmer have looked back on a mature project and thought about how they could have done differently and more efficiently. It's just not cost effective to do so most of the time.
Software developers don't typically change jobs to go and sell burgers so everyone involved knows they'll be coding (something) again somewhere else.
I'm not sure why users even care about that kinda stuff anyway.

All I have to say is that you guys better beta test the crap out of this thing if you get picked. We don't want it to be buggy upon release and end up like Live.

I suddenly have no desire to open up Reaper or Studio One until I get my hands on this thing.
