Yeah... !!! Likey! :D

wow Hive can sound dirty.
just found a way to recreate that virus from 2004 everyone in the handsup genre was using. it is a true EDM synth and so easy to program.
with almost no Manual it is easy to get.

here is a little clip:

added a bit sidechain
here are the presets: https://mega.co.nz/#!IJImmAgB!c4D-O0IVT ... FcvaZ2NBGE
i used Daniel Kandi- Valente as midi file.

I was supposed to do some other stuff this afternoon and instead I putzed around with Hive... damn you u-he! :hihi:

Yep! Came up with this patch which morphs between a dirty guitar and a horn solo via MW (hey, I'm just experimenting! ;) )

Big Muff Hives_or_SynHorn <--- right-click and "Save link as..."

I realize this is an early Beta, so I'm not submitting any bug reports; I've noticed a few strange things but it's best I wrap my head around the architecture first and wait for a feature complete beta. You can hear some pretty weird artifacts in the distortion when playing closer intervals outside of the mids; can be mitigated but you lose the edge. Doubling low 5ths by an octave sounds pretty powerful.

@u-he: thanks for the early release guys! No crashes so far with 64-bit VST in W7-64.

BTW: How many KVRists does it take to change a light bulb? One to change it, and almost every second KVRist to discuss how u-he should have done it, could have done it, or would have done it if they were to do it at all.

;)

lol :hihi:

i wanted to study some quantum mechanics after 0am, but i just took hive for a trip.
i noticed the artifatcs on the sitortion, but i thought its part of game?

so far no crashes too. and the Nordlead track worked also, like Aiyn said.

Urs! The early preview sounds were just the old "under promise and over deliver" trick! Only listened to the six presets and the samples on this thread, and it sounds wonderful. Very relieved. Some of the sounds are slightly frosty like Serum, but they have a uniqueness that makes them worthwhile - like a warm frostiness if that's possible.

Goodbye Sylenth - loved the sound but hated the interface and the filing. :dog:

Two things I want ASAP are:

1. more presets to both hear them and to check that the filing system is quick and easy.

2. an instructional video to get beginner sound designers up to speed asap - preset lovers would be converted to sound designers if this synth is as simple as people say it is.

Hopefully, this thread will produce a pack of presets that gets updated every few pages and someone will put up a youtube instructional video. Or maybe there's a good instructional video for another synth that easily translates to Hive?

OMG, I literally shed a tear when I heard this:

or better idea for the second mod wheel.. make the 2 wheels switchable to what they show..either pitch or mod or breath or expression, aftertouch.. so the patcher can decide what controller to create on screen but no big graphic layout changes needed..

That's something I had been pondering about. I would have loved four wheels, but I think it takes away more than what it brings onto the table. Switchable is better.

In the background we're also - finally! - working on a general preference panel to tackle all sorts of things, MIDI control for starters. With this we'll let people choose whether they want Breath Control or Expression or whatever else to assign to these modulations. Once we know how this works out we can figure out how to set up a nice way to make these controllers available on the user interface.

I don't think there'll be a long wait.

Which reminds me to answer an email… (I haven't been answering many of those lately…)

Excuse me if this is a silly remark, but ...

I always like to explore what a synth is capable of by utilising a 'preset randomizer'

However, Hive is totally crashing Chainer ...! . .:(

Tried it in VSTHost, Tracktion & Mulab - Win 7, 32 bit

(I know Chainer is ancient, but Bazille does work fine with Chainer!)

just saw, is there no PHASE option for each osc? like sylenth1

Image

also there are triplets and dots missing in sequencer/arp play!

yes i love it in gladiator, sadly not many vsts have it :(
i mean if people put out sound packs they are sounding specific and great, the randomizer mostly is a hit or miss and gives nice ideas!

Just trying to figure out if I should use my coupon on Presswerk or Hive :).
Buy them both - you know you will eventually anyway; so save your time/life and just make the move. Then you can create instead of debate.
I will definitely be getting both - just trying to prioritize :).

If the Hive pre-order price will likely be available through end of January/beginning of February, I will go for Presswerk now.

It's what the unfinished part of the central hexagon is for. I hope I don't need months to finalize this :clown:

(sorry regarding Chainer… we'll try it, if I ever find my old license…)

End of January - definitely. Can't promise February. If Hive doesn't come out in January it'll come out in April. Because my vacation is in-between and I won't work every day of it

April if not January? Well I bought it. Better get my butt in gear and test it!

Let's help them get this done by January!!!!
