Many of you hit the nail on the head here. NI is making a ton of money from their sample engines and not their synths. When they first started the Play series, they had Modular Icons which, I'm guessing, was a poor seller as modular folks like tweaking their own sounds, not having it sampled, compressed, and delivered on a plate.

After that, it was hip-hop after hip-hop sample packages galore (Deft Lines, Stacks, Melted Vibes, Empire Breaks, Ignition Keys, Lo-Fi Glow, etc) after they realized that's where their true bread and butter lies. And that makes sense given hip-hop is a sample-based genre anyway.

The writing has been on the wall for a while. Ask fans of Kore, Vokator or Spektral Delay. You would have thought Kore would have lasted as it was expandable.
