That 1 EUR is also refunded. If you choose a CC for payment with that 1 EUR debit they save your payment data and get the money after release automatically. If you choose another method (ie. paypal), then they will send you a description how to pay after the release.
That's how they described it on their page...

Yes, it's just reserving and you don't pay anything right now.2ZrgE wrote:So pre-ordering is only reserving? Or do you have to pay now and download later? Couldn't figure that out yet.
After pre-ordering this is what you'll see in your account:

wow. that's a pretty extreme upgrade price IMO. IIRC the 8-9 upgrade price was inflated due to Max for Live being included, which was a separate price before 9. Now everyone has MfL, so I was assuming this upgrade would be cheaper. guess I will evaluate whether it's worth it. given my past use of Live as opposed to my other DAWS, I would say it isn't likely at this point. if the upgrade is officially near 300 bucks, it is very close to the amount I actually paid to get the product to begin with.

Sadly, if you already have M4L attached to your Standard Lic, its cost is not factored into the current upgrade promo price from Live 9 Std to Suite + Live 10. Still, its a chance to upgrade to the Live 10 Suite for $40 more than the (post release) upgrade from Live 9 Std to Live 10 Std, and a savings of $218 from Live 9 Std to Live 10 Suite at the Ableton shop.pottering wrote:M4L is still Suite only.
Hopefully, you would be left with a separate M4L lic that you could sell to offset the cost of the upgrade even further.

personally I feel Maag Audio EQ4 and Vertigo VSC-2 "The Mercedes of VCA Compressors" overpriced
, unfortunately both of them are must-have ones, beside them Live is a friendly one

Live has always been expensive, IME you get a lot for the price. I'm not just referring to
the product itself. Thinking back over the years, Ableton has consistently been one of the
most accommodating companies I've ever had to deal with. From giving me free NFR lic's
to older, no longer for sale versions, just because I asked. Bending the rules a bit to attach
2nd hand addons to my account. Many discounts, including this latest fat coupon for the
current promo, given to me as compensation for the M4L thing I mentioned above.
Live 10 might not be a huge step above Live 9, but it is definitely improved in a lot of
significant (for me) ways. Its time for me to support them while they move ahead
with this latest version and I am happy to do so. They have earned my loyalty, (more than most)
if nothing else.
*And I'm only moving up to the full product now, after 12 yrs.
-Cheers

Perhaps a bit heady compared to most programs, but the improvements will probably save you a bunch of time. Multiply that time by your hourly wage and see where it takes you.

if I was in the position many people are in, querying whether to upgrade from 9 -> 10 ..... I'd say yes, sure, absolutely. A year after release. Let the bleeding edge types spend the time pointing out the kinks so Ableton can iron them out. In a year, you should typically be past the worst of it ... and chances are you'll get the upgrade for a 30% discount as an added bonus (aren't the seasonal Ableton sales usually in the 30% zone ?)
anyway, upgrading from 9 -> 10, a 20% discount wouldn't entice me into the role of early-adopter. no sir-ee bob.
also, I see people weighing up the value of the upgrade price based on the current 10 feature list. Which is a fairly sane thing to do, btw, always buy for what it is - not promises. Sane as sane can be.
However .... how, ever .... didn't Ableton deliver some juicy 9.* updates throughout the course of its life-cycle ? food for thought. Their MO appears to be longer life-cycles, spanning 4+ years, with decent feature additions coming in point updates along the way.

Does anybody know if there is an upgrade path / price for live 9 intro owners? Or any info of what is included in intro 10? Thanks!

Found out buried in the faq
"I own Live Intro. How can I upgrade to Live 10 Intro?
We don’t offer upgrades from Live 8-9 Intro to Live 10 Intro. We recommend to either upgrade to Live 9 Standard or Suite during the sellout campaign."

So do those of us upgrading to Suite v 10 who already have Suite v9 and M4L pay the same upgrade as those who just have Suite 9, meaning we're effectively getting charged more as Suite upgraders now get M4L included

Intro is basically a demo version with very limited feature set, why would anyone want to upgrade that?paradisebunny wrote:Found out buried in the faq
