in any case, if you thing something i wrote is wrong - feel free to correct me. Else this 10 post banter is just meaningless and i doubt its less tiresome than plugin dissection

Interesting. HG BlackBox and VSM3 are the only 2 plugs from PA that I really use in every project (I don't have Cascade). I need to look closer at Fuse Audio Labs then because nothing from PA is convincing me to buy from them again (except nice GUI'sPloki wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 1:26 pm Phil's cascade is Raimund's work.So is HG BlackBox. So is VSM3!
That's not entirely true nor fair... I don't like PA but i have enough of an objective perspective that i won't slam a plugin just because it comes from a specific vendor. If I thought it's great, i would've written "it's great, but f**k PA".SoftSynthLover99 wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 6:46 pm Some of you are misleading people here about this plug-in. Not cool.
I’ve worked with it since it came out on several mixes, and it sounds amazing!! Especially the compressor/dynamics section. Not many plug-ins can be pushed beyond normal levels and sound good. This one can.
Michael Brauer did a lengthy interview about the 9000 J and although he is endorsing, I doubt he would mislead people and put his name on a product that is crappy and not worth being apart of. I highly doubt he needs the money considering the projects he has worked on.
Rule of thumb: If you want to know how good a fender guitar is, it’s best not to ask people who hate fender guitars.
I think you get my point.![]()

Someone didnt have their morning coffee before they sent this out.
| LinksIf you want to work fast and get the SSL sound, then it's worth consideration. I'll use plugins like these if I just want to get the job done and move onto the next thing without getting bogged down in a million options. Or when I want that specific SSL "deep threshold light ratio" thing that sounds great on a lot of material. If you've got a ton of plugins, they sound great, and you have a good workflow, it's otherwise unnecessary. Just my two cents.4damind wrote: Wed Apr 07, 2021 6:16 pm Is currently on sale for 48 hours ($99 or less if you still have vouchers).
Does anyone generally use such console emulations and replace individual plugins with them?
| LinksIf a "channel strip" plugin like this has a unique character that I am missing, I will consider adding it to my list of tools. I use them to impart their unique character. Ideally I'd be able to know right away which one to use to get what I am after, but I am still listening and learning. I really like the Acustica Acquas for this. For me they are a source of "tone / colour / vibe" however you want to put it. If I don't hear anything using one it won't be of use to me. Typically I am listening for the over-all sound of the plugin, with no processing but only any distortion it may naturally produce, the sound of the EQ curves and how they might work together, and the sound of the compressor on the envelope and over-all tone change. also how they sound when over-driven because some of these are great when over-driven, like the Lindel preamp. This goes of all "channel strips" not just PA.4damind wrote: Wed Apr 07, 2021 6:16 pm Is currently on sale for 48 hours ($99 or less if you still have vouchers).

Sound on Sound Magazine Secrets of Mixing Engineers features lots of top engineers using Waves SSL channels and other plugins:4damind wrote: Wed Apr 07, 2021 7:56 pm Yes, it would certainly make sense because of the faster workflow. I have the Neve (Lindell 80) but I don't use it very often.
But it doesn't seem to be very common? Strangely enough, I haven't seen any known names using a channel emulation of a console in a project video (?)
