My current WIP ... was only able to spend a few hours today. Not yet decided whether I be able to create an entry this time ...

6 Vitals, 2 Bitwig Delays, 1 MTurboReverb. Only the BDR is a preset, all other patches I have done frome scratch. They seem simple but I have spent some time to add just only subtle modulations to make them kind of lively...
Mixbus: MSpectralDynamics, MStereoProcessor, MultibandCompressor, MultibandDynamics

Alright then, psy it is! Thanks guys.exponent1 wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 5:48 pm Yea, Psy trance seems to be the cheese here. It surprisingly gained popularity over last year so much so that even I was forced to include a psytrance section in one of the last rounds. Can't go wrong with it, or can you?![]()
Worth a try for sure.

Surprisingly? I remember dancing to Goa in the 1990ties ... still lots of festivals around ... trance was never dead! And I'm kind of happy that the Skrillex sound-alike-period seems to coming to an end...Sleepwalker wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 8:04 pmAlright then, psy it is! The production quality nowdays is simply amazing. Check out for example some 2017 stuff

The Skrillex sound alike period has been long dead mate, people are doing much better stuff now. I guess you've not heard of Au5, Xilent or such artists...] Peter:H [ wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 8:11 pmSurprisingly? In the spirit of Photonic and Jasinski sharing presets, I'd like to share my kick and snare made using Vital. Usually I create drums by layering multiple instances of the synth, but Vital has enough oscillators, envelopes and FX for me to squeeze them into one patch, which makes them much easier to share. They're free to use for everyone, of course, but you may want to modify them a bit depending on the genre of your track. Hopefully some people will find this useful.

Updated my track with some T2S-Experiments ... Vital says "That is what we " ... and promptly I ran into the "5 per day request limit" so the final "want" is missing in the phrase
On top some more mixing for adding some punch... try to turn up the volume. Pretty clear punch already. Changed the Bdr a little to be more present, removed stuff out of the way of it. The phasey pad has still some ugly resonances. Need to work on that.

Okayish track - If you'd ask me I would check the boom-iness of the boom sound. In my listening environment it's a bit "resonant". You could probably use an EQ and a Multiband-Compressor (OTT?) to tame it a bit.Juergen wrote: Sun Dec 13, 2020 1:00 am Hi, here is a second test track from me.

Vital is really a great synth.
The organish sound - To my ears it sounds little static. Why not add subtle randomnes. try random with "stereo" setting. You could slightly change Adsr Attack Time for instance, slightly detune the unision voices, slightly move the filter cutoff and or drive ... only just very little and slowly.

Im enjoying this synth a a lot!
One question, if I say want to make lets say a bongo drum and use fm or some other osc manipulation to create the sounds, how do we go about to keytrack it proparly so it can be played like youd have multiple bongos in different sizes, or simply play it melodicly? Just try differerent key track settings to taste, or is it possible to just lock it easilly full range and it works?
Id probaly keep the noise not changing much but the body pitch could be full scale notes.
Same with other fm style psy leads etc. It quicly becomes advanced with layers of osc modulations with this synth for me. Great fun!

I would probably attempt this myself by using a low pass filter and tuning the resonance and cutoff and using key track and tweaking it until it sounded right. The filters can be quite musical maybe a comb then a low pass to remove the upper harmonics.Sleepwalker wrote: Sun Dec 13, 2020 2:36 pm Im enjoying this synth a a lot!

so , i’ve played around a bit and ended up slowing down the track by 10bpm
this has caused some issues
