The browser update is vague. Will I be able to label 3rd party distortion plugins with a distortion tag for example and click the tag in browser and have my tagged distortion plugins appear?

I was just going to post the same question.

If I know the Ableton thinking correctly, I would guess that you need to put the plugin in a wrapper/container first in order to create a Live preset. But I would be very happy to see something like NKSF support for 3rd party plugins in the browser.

I wouldn't bet on that.

Imho you will be able to tag presets you saved in Live, not plugins. The latter can be sort of tagged via the collections options, though.

I just asked in this video of a beta tester. He gave me a quick reply! Yes we can. You can look for my comment about it filter by recent.

Can confirm as well.

The tagging system is very easy to work with. It’s not just about creating custom tags for all content (including 3rd party plugs) but you can also save a selected tag as Category in the browser.

So if you wanted, you could keep that “Distortion” tag, as Category in the browser for quick access.

Does anyone know if in 12 you can do random pan on midi notes like in Bitwig?

You can tag almost anything: samples, presets, plugins, devices, m4l stuff, racks.

You can create your own tags, and even your own category of tags.

If you don’t buy a new licence, but upgrade, are you still eligible for the free 12 upgrade?

Any word on multi-channel MIDI routing? Although L12 has now some generative MIDI functionality, the sequencers in Falcon via the new midi-out and Instacomposer etc are nice but cumbersome to set up in L11. I use a M4L thingy to route the midi.

It's weird!
Many Bitwig users were originally Ableton Live users. They compare updates between the two to feel confident and happy about their purchase decisions.
You do them a disservice and make them seem like total saddos, which I’m sure they’re not.

Ableton Live sounds better than Bitwig. Ableton sounds like an analogue DAW 🤣
Ahahaha just wanted to leave this here

I jumped on Live back at 6/7 I think. And there is one feature I've been missing ever since.

The ability to have more than one project open at the same time. I think this is possible with Windows machines, but with Macs you have to go some dark terminal hack. Does anyone know if this has been sorted out with v12?

Do you have any more info on this ? It's something I often avoided Live for, but if there's a neat solution...

If someone has tried the beta, can you guys tell how the CPU consumption compares to Ableton 10?
I'm wondering cause I've got kind of oldish 4790s, which works find with 10, but I'm not sure about further versions
