I'm having a great time with the RS-09 (don't we need a separate thread for it?). I'm a fan of divide-down machines in general, and this one is more versatile than it first appears. And for once I like to use the built-in effects, they actually feel like they belong there, rather than making things sound modern and generic (like just about anything Arturia does).audiothing wrote: Sat Mar 29, 2025 10:13 am Yes! At the moment we have the RS-09 model, the JUNO 6, the JUNO 60 (there are some mild differences in rates between the two), and a very cool Flanger derived from the same BBDs. The SX1000 and Philicorda's little flanger are stripped down versions of that, and it will soon be added to the Wurly as well.
Here is something catches my attention though. Whenever you play the same note over two or more octaves, you get a volume boost for those notes. It makes for a bit of an uneven playing experience.
The two notes of course have that unmistakable in-phase quality of a divide-down machine, and if you've already verified that the volume spike is present in the original hardware, all is well.
But it's not something I experience on my 10-years older Ace-tone Top 8 (pre-Roland) combo organ. My theory (about my Ace-tone) is that the octave summing circuitry is already saturated with one octave sounding, so adding more octaves doesn't boost the volume any further. A per-note compressor, of you will.

It certainly does deserve its own thread.MTorn wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 5:09 pm I'm having a great time with the RS-09 (don't we need a separate thread for it?).
About 20 years ago I had a Top-7. The Ace Tone combo organs had a mellow character that I didn't fully appreciate back then, so I sold it again. Now I'd love someone to make a combo organ VSTi with that smooth, non-aggressive sound. The Top-1 wasn't their top model, but it just sounds and looks gorgeous to me. Check out the for some great videos of all kinds of combo organs.

After the SX1000 release, I've decided to take a break from posting announcements on forums, but I'm still around and happy to answer any questions.MTorn wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 5:09 pmI'm having a great time with the RS-09 (don't we need a separate thread for it?).
Yes, that's the typical side effect of divide down, and what's usually quite difficult to do with samples or standard oscillators.MTorn wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 5:09 pmHere is something catches my attention though. The volume increase is on par with the hardware. I just quickly grabbed two screenshots, one C and then the same C with another C one octave below.

What exactly isn't morally or ethically right in buying a plugin?

Nice to hear about other Top-something owners (or ex-owners). While I wouldn't exactly describe the Top-8 as mellow (unless you only use the Flute tabs), I would describe it as clean. Nothing gnarly like a Farfisa Compact. I'm guessing the Yamaha YC series is equally clean.Lotuz2019 wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 6:11 pm About 20 years ago I had a Top-7. It appears that the Top-7 is quite similar to Top-8, adding a 8' tab (Sax?), but missing the two oddball Sustain tabs of the Top-8. But the 7 is better looking.
Great YouTube suggestion, I hadn't been aware of that channel.

Is this a known bug:
It crashes on my 2 computers when trying to online activate.
Only offline activation works currently.
This is a fresh install without prior trial. But also crashes with prior trial activation.
This is VST3 on Ableton Live 12.1, Windows 10 22h2

Yes, our host migrated to a new system without warning during the Easter break, which is affecting online activation for some plugins on Windows only. You can still activate any plugin using the offline method without issues. Download the license file from your user area and drag it into the activation window. If you need help, feel free to contact us.dermage wrote: Mon Apr 21, 2025 6:05 pm Is this a known bug:
