SX1000 is a faithful emulation of the JEN SX1000, a vintage Italian synth released in 1978.

We’ve accurately emulated the SX1000’s M110 chip and expanded its capabilities with polyphonic mode, a sub-oscillator down to -3 octaves, enhanced legato controls, a JUNO 60 inspired arpeggiator, and four flexible-routing effects.

SX1000 is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux (VST, VST3, AU, AAX, CLAP, Standalone).
It’s also available on the App Store for iOS and iPadOS (AUv3 and Standalone).

I'm quite amazed you managed to find a vintage synth that hasn't been made into a VST five times over. Bravo.

Doesn't look like the most powerful synth in the universe (and I wouldn't expect it for 1978) but this seems like it would be excellent as a "trainer" synth. Someone who's never heard of an oscillator before could take this thing and know their way around in a day or so. Neat.

I used to own one of these, it was unruly, raw, badly tuned, and had a keyboard that ran off by an inch left to right - so yeah, lets hope you modeled that too...

Back in the day the JenSX1000 was the synth you bought when you wanted to get into analogue but couldn't afford a Juno or anything even remotely decent, not even a Polysix.That's back when Junos weren't silly money. Known for being one of the most ordinary analogues you could get your hands on. Funny how ordinary becomes iconic if you wait long enough

1)
keytrack isn't working correctly as far as i can see (hear)
0 - 49% = 0 effect
50 - 100 % = full effect

2)
the init preset has a glide (of 5) on
i'd prefer it to be off...

Yes! It never really got a proper emulation so I thought it deserved one.

It was limited, but it was also quite affordable at the time. An accessible alternative if you couldn't stretch your budget for a Minimoog. Another plus is how easy it was to mod, adding the suboscillator completely changed the game for me. I also ran it through cheap guitar pedals, particularly flangers and delays, which is why I included an effects section in the plugin. Definitely an excellent "trainer synth".

Raw is definitely a good adjective for it! I was lucky to get mine 20+ years ago in very good shape (just some cosmetic issues).

That's exactly what happened to me, although I wasn't really looking at poly synths. I needed a good enough analog mono synth, and the JEN was the best fit for my budget.

Awesome, I'm curious to know how it compares to your unit? We did some research also checking old youtube videos and some units have a very "bad" saw shape. That's why we included the Saw Shape extra parameter.

Oh I need to check, it might be just a silly bug.

You can overwrite the Init preset with whatever settings you want and when you reload the plugin it will assign those as default values.

I don’t think I’ve seen a synth with the sections spelled out like L.F.O. and V.C.O., etc. Maybe that’s how the original was?

Well, KORG's early synths called LFOs MGs or Modulation Generators.
