That's why I only buy digital downloads (electronic delivery) and have never used shipping... But it would be great if ALL shops would list the shipping AND tax costs in the shopping cart, so that everyone in the whole world can decide if it isn't cheaper to buy a (regular) digital download version.

eBay has a system which makes it Blindingly any charges which maybe charged IF the seller decides NOT to pay any taxes etc This is NOT clear at JRRSHOP that paying for shipping & Taxes does not include further charges! I think I have it very clear my experience and how I feel ! Nothing anyone thinks can change this! I spend lots of money on software & hardware and expect a service which makes me feel happy to shop and unfortunately my experience on this occasion fell well below what I usually experience and thereby exercise my right as a consumer to express my dissatisfaction! And maybe save someone else some money! Old adage You live and learn.i really feel I have said enough!

It's £32 because I refunded £11 to you. These duties are completely external to us, we have nothing to do with them.stixman wrote:If I new I was going to be charged an extra £43/$98 I would not have gone ahead an ordered!
There were no taxes on our checkout. There was no warning I would be charged more than the shipping and taxes I saw on your checkout!
These duties have nothing to do with us. Neither Fed Ex nor the country of England reported to us that they were billing you.I had to suggest to you after some weeks that I be compensated for the higher invoice amount being demanded from FedEx !
You only ever purchased download licenses from us in the past. Download licenses are not taxed.I explained to you I have never been asked to pay extra charges before despite buying overseas for many years!
We have been working with Fed Ex on your behalf this entire time.Had you settled this some weeks ago I would have been reassured but this dragged on too long!

We're increasingly moving in the direction of only offering downloadable products.Tricky-Loops wrote:That's why I only buy digital downloads (electronic delivery) and have never used shipping...

I fully agree with this. Everyone reading this does need to be aware that there is the chance of being charged duties and taxes when importing goods.stixman wrote:And maybe save someone else some money!

That's a good decision because with downloable products you won't need big warehouses for software any more. You only need some big (computer) servers and much memory...Uncle E wrote:We're increasingly moving in the direction of only offering downloadable products.Tricky-Loops wrote:That's why I only buy digital downloads (electronic delivery) and have never used shipping...

The only rule I've found out is that FOR DOWNLOADABLE PRODUCTS they demand (VAT) tax if you buy WITHIN Europe, and they don't demand tax if you buy OUTSIDE Europe. That's why I often purchase in the United States.Caine123 wrote:not all digital downloads are free of taxes, zero-g takes some when you live in germany etc. why others dont sometimes, i dunno but i guess there are some rules.

If JRR have refunded you anything then this seems to me to be nothing but testament to their desire to make their clients happy. What you've been charged is standard customs duty and is technically enforceable for any imports of software/hardware. Similarly, it is within the rights of the courier to charge you an admin fee and indeed most if not all will do this where customs charges are levied.stixman wrote:If I new I was going to be charged an extra £43/$98 I would not have gone ahead an ordered! In that case you've either been extremely lucky, or have only made low-value or European purchases in the past. In my experience HMRC will tend to apply import duty to purchases from outside Europe unless the value of the goods are lower than around £30. Technically duty is still applicable for cheaper goods as well, but isn't usually enforced due to lack of cost/benefit.I explained to you I have never been asked to pay extra charges before despite buying overseas for many years!
It's not their responsibility to settle anything. It sounds like they've gone beyond the call of duty to make things good.Had you settled this some weeks ago I would have been reassured
Under Customer Service/Shipping & Delivery on their site:I suggest you make it absolutely clear the extra cost of buying from JRRSHOP if they are from UK! I looked at your checkout site and I could not find any mention of the extra costs to be added to final cost of buying from you which suggests to that this cost was HIDDEN!
'International customers are responsible for all import duties, taxes, and brokerage fees. We do not include these fees in our total costs'
Seems pretty clear.

My only concern there is that Internationally shipped orders literally make up less than 1% of our orders. I wouldn't want that message to confuse the 99% of other people.VitaminD wrote:Why not put that warning on the order/payment page just to better ensure it is seen?

'For Orders only shipped outside of the USA: you may get taxed further based on a lot of technical mumbo jumbo outside of my control, research before buying, some restrictions may apply, consult your doctor before using, you have thus been warned. I will play the worlds smallest violin if you were too hasty to read this and wonder why you got additional fees.'

You could post the "advice" at the Check-Out-page, so that it only appears if someone orders internationally...Uncle E wrote:My only concern there is that Internationally shipped orders literally make up less than 1% of our orders.
