New Spectral devices, for all Bitwig Studio customers!
Finally they came to their senses! Now I can upgrade :D

Post

Ok, the community is powerful, and our voice got heard, glad to see this is still possible in this business ego world!

The more I read here, I think Bitwig is not to be blamed here. The reason being You're not even willing to give them some time of maybe more than one week to sort this out and discuss the issue internally is quite egoistic and dickheaded.

I can see that we all want new plugins for free but at the same time, we can not force this on a free developer as we do not own the product. Bitwig owns their work and we only have a license that entitles us to use it on up to 3-4 machines.
I get that people have resent of how they have introduced their new plugins but they had every right to do so how they like.
Now given all the heat they get, this only shows how horny we are on their products an that we'd suck on them for how great they are. Maybe it is time to step a bit back, and see how they will adress our drooling over what they have.

Very good. All’s well that ends well.

It’s been real, friends. Good talk!

although still feel that it was a media hack :D on the double or nothing basis, but seems it was "only" greek dilemma between the users and BWS

The important part they say is: "Moving forward, all of our Bitwig Studio feature development, including devices, will be covered by the 12-month Upgrade Plan."

So now I know this they will get my plan renewal at the end of November rather than me waiting.

well that ended better than I thought.

Pity it caused so much collateral damage by dividing elements of the community and also now several content makers may not be producing Bitwig videos.

Love should definitely be the new theme. They reversed course and delivered a humble message to their users and YouTubers. Can’t ask for more than that. Definitely lessons to be learned for other companies with forward plan models, but I’m good forgiving, forgetting and moving on with Bitwig.

By the way, I suspect we don’t get this outcome without the support of the YouTubers, so a special thanks to them for supporting the customers. I hope they all go back to using bitwig in their videos and can reset their relationships too

Bravo to Bitwig for listening to the community feedback. Plenty of companies wouldn't. I think it says a lot about a company that they were willing to do an about-face like this. That's the kind of company I want to support.

Also I think it's worth mentioning that although it seemed like they took a long time to respond, there would have been some work involved in prepping the 4.4 release to be available immediately at the time of this announcement. The kind of thing that involves some late nights. So props to the team.

I'm still gonna upgrade only when there's features I want (which ironically could be even less if updates are just for devices like this), but I'm glad everyone got what they want and can go back to paying ahead of time for unknown features (which worked out so well for Komplete Care haha).

So when they put the price up for the yearly plan (to keep up with inflation), I'm looking forward to the thread demanding that they separate specialized tools that many people might not want, from the core application, so as to bring the price back down. ;)

Seriously though, you wouldn't get this kind of response from Steinberg!

Thank you Bitwig. The right decision. Onwards and upwards

I'm especially happy because of Polarity who put so much effort, literally his life, onto Bitwig, so glad his channel survived, he deserves it.
