There's no DVD for upgraders. Simply doesn't exist.
My point exactly... So telling us all we were dumb for not getting a "boxed" version and that we are whining was uncalled for.

(Not you, other poster) :hihi:

oh man, I just installed the Omnisphere 2 Upgrade and authorized it.

When I try to open Omnisphere a popup appears:
STEAM Folder not found. Would you like to locate it?

And that was it in Cubase 7.5 in Windows 7.
Cubase freezes.

Also when I try to open my since years greatworking Stylus RMX and Trillian the Authorization Windows open up and ask me to authorize them again.

So I tried to contact support and the spectrasonics site is down.

I really feel like a V.I.P.

If you are a worship musician- you might want to join up with this group- one of the sound designers for Omni 2- Peter James- is also a member. Great group with a unique focus : https://www.facebook.com/groups/Omnisph ... hipSounds/

I guess I was a lucky one in the end. I was playing it not much after 3 hours after launch - given all the problems that's pretty good going. I really hope the site gets back up and stays up.

To reiterate - as of now, the installers available from your account on the Spectrasonics site do not work. You need to use the download manager, and the only way of getting it is via your Order confirmation email. I've read that some people don't have them, while others do and don't have links. In that position you are stuck, and need to contact support.

The good news is if you do install the faulty installer, going through the real installer step by step subsequently rectifies all the problems - for me it worked straight away. The real installer has 4 stages:

1 - Software Upgrade
2 - Data Upgrade
3 - For Trilian Users
4 - For Moog Tribute users

And it's 18.6gb, not 0.3gb (the online version).

I only had about an hour to get some first impressions. Summary - kind of overwhelming. What I mean is - the sheer number of ways to start, combined with the sheer number of ways to manipulate is mind-boggling. One of my strong early impressions is that the 3rd party guys are going to have a field day and the market will explode with more specifically targeted packs... it just feels utterly inexhaustible. All those wavetables.. all those soundsources... Inner space... granular.... Etc... You can seemingly start from anything and end up with anything.

I'm just going to have to start using it day by day really. There are a couple of niggles I'd say... That browser is fantastic and all important, but it feels like they ran out of time to tag their own stuff properly. Some of Diego Stocco's new patches (fabulous of course) don't seem to even have categories or types assigned, so you won't find them in the obvious searches. Some fairly obvious looking tag combos don't return many results, and you know there's a lot more in there - indeed I found them later when browsing around other things. I hope they'll update the database in due course.

One other thought - would love access to power buttons for unison / granular etc from the main page. It feels like a little more button pressing than Omni 1 to get around the basics - perhaps that's inevitable, but I think there might be some refining they can do.

Some lovely factory sounds from Matt Bowdler (The Unfinished), Skippy and Plughugger, btw.

So it's.. beyond huge. So many great features and sounds, the UI is still so much better than everyone else's. For the price of the upgrade, simply astonishing. Any reservations I suspect are .0 ones, I guess the refinements and inevitable glitch fixes will come. And hopefully all the launch day aggro will be soon forgotten.

Not sure if this is helpful- The Steam folder is located (in Windows) at C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics

In my case, I have shortcuts there in their place which point Omnisphere to my sample drive.

Edit: Also, Cubase is a POS about hanging if any new pluging tries to pop a modal screen when it scans on startup. Once you get the install squared, I'll bet your Cubase issue will be gone. I know the frustration on that one well.

I believe Spectrasonics lied about Omni2. It doesn't really exist. Surely they would not tease us like this. ;)

Post

thanks, but I have the steamfolder on another drive.
During installation it was detected, but Omnisphere doesn`t recognize it.
Strange that all the authorizations are gone too.

I have no idea (and why) a KVRAF tag is set but because it exists, member "noiseboyuk" has earned it today. :tu:

It's disgruntling that I see you have over 1K posts and you're still an "ian" like me. I'll have to hang around for years to meet the next threshold. :hihi:

Has anybody had the download stall and then continue to download again? Mine has said download stalled for 2 hours now. I'm wondering if I should just start over.

Yep mine did that but resumed again after about 10-15 minutes or so.
