just to be clear, i meant i liked the new one.
rather than being queen or blink 369
there where some good songs in the queen lot, but because they where placed as queen like, the mind compares them to queen, whether you want it to or not.

so just being you, there is no "expectation" beyond hearing a song. :)

Ah okay. Thanks for clarifying that. Yeah, I guess had I not said anything doing those 3 CDs and just posted the songs expectations would have been different. Actually, look how long it took for somebody to guess The Police. Took song 4 to finally give it away cause I literally stole a line out of a Police song. Otherwise, I don't think anybody would have gotten it. And the only thing that really sounded like Queen was the Brian May guitar. And Blink? Not really much there after the first track, which was dead on the money.

Ultimately, when I write, it usually ends up sounding like me no matter who I'm going for. That's why I rarely do covers.

we all have "a sound" where people who know us would recognise it no matter what, as us.
look at donks, he does a few different rock type genres but in the end, they all sound like him.

but yes, the tribute albums, you raise expectations.
although, as i said in the queen thread, you do deserve credit for at least pushing yourself, especially in the open. if i was going to do (and i kinda did with the plague track) a tribute, i wouldn't say anything till i knew id got close.

best just to do a "stadium rock" style rather than "queen" but i get why you wanted to do it, we all have our heroes :)
or in fact, screw genres, just write stuff :)

It regard to DT, I think he's one of the most talented people here. I love listening to his stuff. A good part of his sound, however, is his voice. Even though he sounds like Pete Townsend, it is unmistakable.

Don't get me wrong. If I sang like him, I still wouldn't sound like him because our style of writing is so different. But that voice is a big part of his sound. That and the way he produces his stuff. I wouldn't even know where to begin to get that sound.

Torn between two worlds: v.good, intro reminded me of Elton John.
@2:20> liked the breakdown. a touch too much vibrato on the lead for me 2:30>.
Very nicely arranged as usual.

Where the angels go: loved the line, "where do angels go, when they feel walls closing in."
1:45, excellent introduction of a higher octave strings line.
Didn't much care for "It all comes down to this", but enjoyed the other two very much.

Isn't what you described called melodic inversion?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inversion ... )#Melodies
A melody is inverted by flipping it "upside-down", reversing the melody's contour. For instance, if the original melody has a rising major third, then the inverted melody has a falling major third (or, especially in tonal music, perhaps a falling minor third).

In any case, the melody for "Where the Angels Go" is very good. :tu:

Chromatic Harmony, Melodic Inversion, potato, potahto. It's all the same thing.

Anyway, thanks for the listen and the feedback. Much appreciated.

Torn Between Two Worlds

In the distance
I can see another life
One that's lovely
One that isn't filled with strife

But here in this world I am
With you and my destiny
For all the world to see
And so here I am
Torn between two worlds

Saw it coming
Didn't want to face the truth
See it fading
Clinging to forgotten youth

And here in this world I am
With you and my destiny
For all the world to see
And so here I am
Torn between two worlds

I know I have to make a choice
I know I have to raise my voice

Instrumental Break

Time has come now
Stay or go it's up to me
Hard decision
Suffering or set me free

Oh here in this world I am
With you and my destiny
For all the world to see
And so here I am
Torn between two worlds

It really sounds like it was made a few decades ago, and I mean it in a good way. Overally for me it's a chilly track that could play in the intro of some spin off of neverending story haha :D Pleasurable experience. A bit nostalgic and gives a feeling of the beginning of some adventure, overally cheerful.
I'm a professional and you can't deny it. If you do, you either were tricked by the League, or you are from the League.

Wow, Professional Tom popping into MY thread. I am so honored.

Thanks for the listen and the feedback. It is very much appreciated.

And yes, I am old.

Hahaha I'm honoured to have you as a keyboardist in my band. And I bet you're not too old to hit them damn keys hehehe.

People submit many tracks here and it's not possible for me to listen to everything but I'll try to visit this topic regularly. And there are two reasons why. First, you're my bandmate. Second, I can expect certain, sufficient level of quality from your tracks so it's a more pleasurable experience than listening to some loopy noobz singing about vaginas and stuff.

:D

2nd track from my upcoming CD "Chroma"

This one was written off the opening line of "Goodbye To Love" by the Carpenters.

Goodbye So Long And Farewell

I've had it up to here
You drive me crazy my dear
You're constantly on my case
I feel I'm losing this race

I don't know why I keep hanging on
Even though the love that we had is gone
We might as well call it a day
What is left to say
Goodbye so long and farewell

I tried to make it work
You made me feel like a jerk
I swear you've got no soul
They threw your heart in a hole

Repeat Chorus

Goodbye so long and farewell
Goodbye so long and farewell
Goodbye so long and farewell
Goodbye so long and farewell

Fade Out

What's the instrument from 0:42 to 0:42 then the same from 0:50 to 0:52. Sounds like a crying violin or something. Is it a synth?
