Could you please give a little more details about this? I don't know Ableton or Bitwig and had a quick look at YT searching for "audio to midi". So, basically it's drag&drop from audio files to Midi tracks and automated pitch detection.

Ok, this is one shortcut more in S1: mark audio clip, press CMD + M (for Melodyne) and then drag the clip to a Midi track. Done!

What did I miss? Or what are the extra benefits in Ableton/Bitwig?
No in Ableton you can right click on a file in the browser, and slice it to a new midi track straight away.

Hi to all studio one users! It's my first post in this community and hopefully following the rules. I'm about to switch to studio one but I'm concerned about two things. Should I buy it now on discount or a new studio one 5 version will come out before long? I saw from previous comments that studio one 5 is expected soon but isn't 2020 too soon for a new version?

I would also like to ask if you guys know when presonus has sales on studio one, because I'm thinking of buying the artist version now and then wait for the next discount to upgrade to pro. So if a new version has been released I'll still have made a good deal.

Money is an issue in these difficult times and this is why I'm seeking your council.

For the past few years Main updates and .5 ones came out around May. So it is a big possibility that we will see V5 next month.

What about rent to own on Splice? $16.99 a month until you own it. Ends up being more expensive but you don't have to plonk down the whole amount at once.
Signatures are so early 2000s.

I didn't know about splice! For my situation it can be really helpful. Even for a month or two. Thank you!

I am pretty sure that purchasing now on discount is the most sensible thing if you really want it.

I just had a look at this offer. It is valid throughout May, which means there will be no V5 this month. Also there will most likely be a grace period of at least a month to get the upgrade at least for a discounted fee (as compared to the normal upgrade fee for V4 License owners) so if V5 will arrive during that grace period (which I somehow doubt though) you'll have saved good money most likely. The normal upgrade fee from V4 to V5 should be around the same amount of money that V4 is discounted now.
If V5 comes out at some point after the grace period is over, V5 will probably (that is at least what I assume and is reasonable) cost you about the same (i.e. V4 discounted now and then the upgrade fee to V5) as what you'd have to pay when purchasing V5 directly later on. But then you'll have been able to use V4 during these months already.

I was thinking about this scenario also. A couple of days back I was really just a click away form purchacing it because I had to have a DAW I can work with and trust.

Yesterday though, it seems I was lucky enough to make the daw I already own (ableton) work with video again without problems, so I'm at least able to work on client projects at last. Now maybe I can even wait for black friday sales and a version 5 of studio one until then, given that I'll be in a better place financially too. But god I really liked studio one's workflow and overall feeling.

Interesting...as I can neither remember nor find any history of them doing a 30% off sale till the end of May from my online searches.

Weirdly, I'm in the middle of watching, Das Boot, that epic German submarine film on a terrestrial TV channel as I type this.

Does CTC-1 Pro Console Shaper ever go on sale? I have v4 and get promo emails for their sales but never see CTC-1 go on sale. The reviews I've read on it are generally positive saying it's much better than the stock emulation that comes free with Studio One.

It actually has been on sale from the 1st of April last year...

https://blog.presonus.com/index.php/201 ... le-shaper/

Sound on Sound magazine did a review of it, which is helpful for people to understand what it actually does... https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques ... ole-shaper

Personally I've not bought any of their addon plugins as I feel, that at some point in the future that these things will be included or integrated within the application in any case. The whole console thing doesn't particularly interest me though and is really something I've never bothered with.

I'm making a prediction that Studio One 5 will be released on the 21st of May... :D

It ties in with the 21st year of Studio One's celebrations, funny enough... but that's not the main reason...lol.

Just as there was a previous meetup, where some individuals were able to get a copy of Studio One before it officially launched... which leads me onto something else. Evenbright were the same people who gave the Fat Channel Plugins away several years ago for free in a raffle.... Humm...

Anyway, I've been having some creative fun tonight with some new sci-fi imagery...over on page 1 as usual...

You have the corona stuff going on right now. The staff at Presonus's HQ is still working remotely. I think Hamburg team is back at the office. So it might get pushed back.

That's what one might have assumed a few weeks back, but with the indications that Beta Testers already have Studio One and that there is an up coming event which mirrors what's gone before, economic slow down, and investors in Presonus champing at the bit, it's certain that Studio One isn't moving from its regular scheduled time slot in the month now. If Studio One 5 ends up being released as damp squib in comparison to what version 3.0 was released as, and to be honest there really hasn't been as big a release which has been comparable since then, I don't think it's going to be much of a concern if people are buying it. Obviously Presonus expects a down turn in sales, as does most companies do, particularly in the US.. but there's not much they can do about that.

Presonus are going to take a big hit in the hardware sector of their business I would imagine, and I believe that the involvement of Eventbrite (or Evenbright as I call it), indicates that to try and push more hardware mixers and stuff out to customers that they will be happy to start giving Studio One 5 Pro away as they did with the FAT Channel Plugins some years back, just to get more people than usual to buy into Studio One upgrades and their hardware in the future. Or they might do the carrot on the string approach and give something away but it won't work unless you buy or upgrade to Studio One 5...

In any case, I waited till Black Friday of 2018 before I upgraded to V4, avoiding the first wave of issues that came with it. For those reading you can find all the release notes released for all versions since 4.0 listed, half way down page one of this thread.
