I'm getting some lovely organic stuff too - really pleased with the way Zebra is bendable in all directions, and really happy with the integral modulation assignments within each module - keep the main mod matrix pleasingly small and it's much easier to keep track of what's going on in complex patches. It's a seriously great piece of UI design, as well as all that other.. sound... stuff

I know, I'm supposed to be finishing up my patches and I keep getting sidetracked by playin' em!

Sorry, Urs, more future feature requests!
For the XY control, it would be great if there could be glide parameter so that it could be set to take 1 second, etc. to move to the new point (or is that the no-no morphing?).
Also, someday, I would love it if the UI could be enlarged (even full screen).

The UI might become resizable. I've done some experiments which looked promising...velocipede wrote:Sorry, Urs, more future feature requests!

Regarding XYs, there are a lot of ideas like that. I'll work something out after the release...

Thanks, Urs!
A big Zebra on my screen would be lovely.
Maybe you should start charging by the feature request!

Will Z2 be able to read Z1.5 presets and especially the spectrum waveform stuff or will we run both parallel?
The new waveform editor in Z2 is really nice, but it is completely replacing the spectrum of Z1.5? Too me I think both are nice and at the moment I cannot think about a way to get results like in 1.5 in Z2 and v.v. - funny.
Best

I would definately love to see a resizeable gui too! Things then to get messy on my 1900*1200 17" laptop monitor..

You can emulate the Z1.5 spectrum in Z2 pretty closely... use just one table of "SpectroBlend" along with "Fundamental" and "Brilliance" in the effects slots.steffe wrote:Will Z2 be able to read Z1.5 presets and especially the spectrum waveform stuff or will we run both parallel?

Honestly, I don't dare to think about writing a preset converter. It seems like a mission impossible. Mostly because of the new Grid functionality. So they'll work in parallel, indeed

Hmmm, yeah... although much of the gui is vector graphics it doesn't look overly nice when resized. The scaled bitmaps cost quite some cpu. It might be better to add skins of different sizes.metal wrote:I would definately love to see a resizeable gui too! Things then to get messy on my 1900*1200 17" laptop monitor..
I'll bother with this when everything is in there so I don't have to work on multiple skins at once when adding new stuff...

Yeah, larger skins would be cool I mean, you can make sounds evolve for ever just tweaking it, so I can stay in the UI for a long time while the sequencer is just going at it, so to have a bigger UI would prove helpful...but not ALL the time. Something I could quickly switch to and switch back.Urs wrote:Hmmm, yeah... although much of the gui is vector graphics it doesn't look overly nice when resized. First congratulations to Z2! I recently got time to play around with the preview and the warm sound from Z1 is still there... and with so much more to it this time!
Now over to a small suggestion, You have implemented easy support for midi controllers with that ctrl-click-and-move-the-controler-You-want-to-assign scheme.
Could you add this to the next and previous patch arrows too?
I love this functionality in Logic when browsing through presets and would think it would be great to have in Z2 also...

Another little feature request for some point in the future if it's possible: pitch bend on held notes only.
If you use the pitch wheel, any voices sounding in their release stages will not be effected by pitch bends, but any voices being held are...

Regarding single harmonics and joined harmonics.
I like to play around with single harmonics but in Z2 they are joined together in groups. Is it possible to make an option for single harmonic editing ?
1 good reason, IF there was an option like this you could create very nice organs and bells patches. But when harmonics are joined you cant make accurate emulations.
Most people dont go as deep as to single editing harmonics, and sure it takes alot of practise but when you master it you can create things you never dreamed of. Any raw waveform can be recreated using additive synthesis but it requires full control of the harmonics.
I dont bother with the pitch or phase but just the raw volume control of the harmonic.
