Acid has done a pretty solid job with v6..

I skipped v5, which never went past the splash screen, but I'm definitely going for this one
Acid 4 was enough for me already, but the additions in 6 are amazing, how ever little they may seem.
I just tried it for an hour or so, didn't have a single problem. Actually, I did, one. The sound started glitching after a few minutes of playback, but changing the device from DS to ASIO fixed that. Haven't had a single crash, and if it does crash, it will most likely be a compatibility issue with a plugin, which happened to me a few times on v4 (Sophia VSTi comes to mind).
It took several minutes to load when starting for the first time, but it's fast later on, not instanteneous but who cares.
The only feature I wish they'd put is the ability to draw envelopes by hand, rather than add points and then drag them around, which can get very tedious sometimes...
To all claiming that Acid is crap, well, all I can say is, get a life
It's not the DAW that makes the musician, and the sooner you realize that, the better.
I know some excellent (ambient) musicians are still using some of the earliest versions of Vegas and Acid!
Amateurs? Yeah right

Hold down the Shift Key and when you move the mouse over the envelope line, draw away.cloudspine wrote:The only feature I wish they'd put is the ability to draw envelopes by hand, rather than add points and then drag them around, which can get very tedious sometimes...
By default, the drawn curve will be thinned. To disable this, go to the Prefs "External Control & Automation" page and uncheck
"Smooth and thin automation data afeter recording or drawing"

So just now uninstalling the demo. I like me some CM-101. Sorry, Sony!
Have you had good success with your testing so far?

I just tried this - pure genius! Can any other host do this? Gone are those tedious hours of entering envelope points or setting up hardware controllers.SonyPCH wrote:Hold down the Shift Key and when you move the mouse over the envelope line, draw away.cloudspine wrote:The only feature I wish they'd put is the ability to draw envelopes by hand, rather than add points and then drag them around, which can get very tedious sometimes...

If only we could drag and drop clips from one track to another then I'd be in host heaven.

I know, there do seem to be some problems with certain plugins. It's such a shame because ACID 6 is so much better in many ways than v5. I really hope Sony address the VST problem asap.grymmjack wrote:ModuLR wrote:My tax refund might get sucked up by this one...![]()
Mine is going to JamStix and a Yamaha EZ-EG MIDI guitar deal. I tried demo of Acid 6 and after finding out that DX-10, Wasp, and SimSynth (imageline plugs) were culprits for crash on scan, and removing them temporarily for evaluation of the demo, I tried to load CM-101 up, and POOF no more acid, it just POOF went away.

I really don't understand why Sony haven't implimented a safe mode for ACID and a troubleshooting option to test VST's. That way ACID could be opened and problem plugins could be identified and excluded from the VST registration process. It ain't bleeding rockit science, init?

Yeah but have you tried Jamstix with acid6 ?, i'm having problems with the M8audio plug(which routes live sound to Jamstix), don't know which end the fault is at, guess i should report this.. hope they can fix it, Jamstix is great ! and Acid6 of cause

At the very least a catching message when a plugin shits the bed would be nice, and not just POOF gone! That's the kind of stuff that scares me because it is also indicative of what kind of programming is going on behind the scenes. Nothing should ever just *poof* away. It's no wonder sony added an autosave feature -- with that kind of hohum stability you need it to stay safe/sane!munchkin wrote:I know, there do seem to be some problems with certain plugins. I'm with you, I hope they fix the problems, and logically there are going to be issues of course. Isn't this the first acid that has VSTi support? That's a huge thing to master, especially without any core competency in place in the company for such a thing. It's going to be a bumpy road, and I'll come back and check it out at v7 when the kinks are sorted.
Definitely a shame. too bad. yep, too bad..

No I haven't. After acid disappeared on me to places unknown upon trying to load one of my favorite synths (CM101) I uninstalled it.Reubs wrote:grymmjack wrote:ModuLR wrote:My tax refund might get sucked up by this one...![]()

Does JamStix load ok in other hosts for ya?

I think the M8audio plug is the problem, it doesn't seem to work in some other hosts, btw, regardless of what problems Acid 6 has now, its still much more stable than v4 which was a complete joke with vst's.

I have an interesting issue with AP6. When I'm scanning my VSTi folder, I know exactly which plug crashes it. The problem is that I have no idea what this VSTi is, and I can't seem to find it anywhere
Anyone know how I can find a plug on my pc by name so that I can delete it? It doesn't seem to be in my VSTi folder.
