Hello people, I just registered my Traction a few days ago and am finding it real useful.
I am a Reason user and have found that Tracktion completes Reason nicely with an improved sound engine, nicer compression and eq. It also generally just brings Reason, my hardware and live audio together pretty well.
So my problem is that I need to render, or to bounce down my Reason song (ReWired through Tracktion) to a stereo wav file, but after trying it numerous time it just dosen't seem possible. Or is it?
Also, if a ReWired song can't be rendered then maybe someone could tell me how to record a ReWired track internally into Tracktion, if that's possible?
Guess if none of that works then I can always bounce tracks within Reason and import them into Tracktion manually, it would just be cool to do it in some other, a little faster way 'ya know.
Thanks,
CL

If you want to do triplet, using the time signature settings and the 'triplet button' to set the grid may give you the result you want...venice wrote:Now I wonder: is there a programmable "snap to" grid in Tracktion/Stepchild? I really like to default to 32nd note triplets in cubase.

C-Logic, I'm using Tracktion on a Mac and have no trouble rendering tracks, either from Reason alone via Rewire or in conjunction with VST effects. I also have no trouble freezing Reason tracks in Tracktion.C-Logic wrote:So my problem is that I need to render, or to bounce down my Reason song (ReWired through Tracktion) to a stereo wav file, but after trying it numerous time it just dosen't seem possible. I just use the export to audio file function, is that what you've tried?

I don't know if it's a bug or a missing feature :
I can't copy and paste midi notes between two different midi clips (on the same track).
I select a group of notes in a clip. Hit Ctrl+C. Select another clip, place the marker, hit Ctrl+V.
Sometimes, nothing happens (with a nice "nothing to paste" pop up message). Sometimes, notes are pasted on top of copied ones.
Help ?
PS : I'm working with the latest PC Version : 1.5.0.103

NuBi is again in a state of flux - it *still* needs a GUI and I still haven't found a dependable coder/partner. I remain ever hopeful though...pough wrote:Welcome, venice! Now put your shiny new copy of Tracktion away and finish Nubi!
In more thread-appropriate news, I did register my copy of Tracktion and am looking forward to having a lot of fun with it -- From what I have seen so far, Tracktion is a great piece of work.
peace,

how to apply varying volume to a clip/track ?
I realise you can drag the volume/pan filter onto an individual audio clip, but that sets the volume for the entire clip.
I want to be able to apply a volume pattern that varies on the timeline (like you can do in video editing programs and most other sequences with digital audio).
Specifically, I have a loop (x32) and I want to modify the volume for a couple of segments only.[/b]

That's what automation's for - there's lots of automation info on the forum and in the popup help, you just need to automate the track's volume control.I want to be able to apply a volume pattern that varies on the timeline (like you can do in video editing programs and most other sequences with digital audio).

Ahh, I see. I played with automation in some of the plugin settings but it didn't (immediately) occur to me to do it with the volume filter.jules wrote: That's what automation's for - there's lots of automation info on the forum and in the popup help, you just need to automate the track's volume control.
In the future, will there be a way to tweak automated parameters visually in the track?

How do you mean?tezza wrote: In the future, will there be a way to tweak automated parameters visually in the track?
The automation curve *is* in the track. Just click and drag on the line to create and move points. Or am I misunderstanding you?

No, you're not misunderstanding me. I'm misunderstanding something, because I have no curve in the track. I'm speaking of a digital audio track of course (as opposed to midi). I have recorded some automation on the volume/pan filter and it plays back OK.valley wrote: How do you mean?

I have the audio track expanded and the volume/pan filter selected. There is no curve for me to manipulate on the track. Any ideas on how to have this curve show up then?
ps.
The clip has the fade-in/fade-out markers, but that is completely separate to the automation data from the volume/pan filter.
I'm running v 1.5.0.103

Happy day. I found the answer to my dumb-arse noobie questiontezza wrote: Any ideas on how to have this curve show up then?
You have to click on the microscopic "A" icon at the top-right of any given track. From there, you can elect to display param curvs or not, and which params to display. Very nifty. The ability to select between master filters and track filters is awesome -- particularly considdering that any given track can represent a group of tracks.
I guess I never found this because I was looking on the popup menu from clicking on/near the track name (on the left).
You can also elect to turn on/off the "default" param curves for all the tracks using the AUTOMATION menu button on the bottom-left.
phew... getting there... :/
I'm still finding it a truckload easier than anything else I've used (possibly with the exception of the original sound tracker - which of course have 1% of the features

a real newbie question so I suppose this should go here?
Could someone please spend 30 seconds explaining how how to set up and use drum samplers (e.g. the 202 or 505) in Tracktion. I get as far as dropping them in as filters, can load up the kits I want / add new samples in SR202 - but how to create drum parts / loops are still a mystery to me in Tracktion - am used to going directly into a loop creator; this question is so basic it doesn't bring up answers in a search.
Also, are the multiple outs any use - I've read it can be followed by a patchbay filter, but this doesn't do much without a rack filter.
Cheers

1. You have a few options. The most basic is to find out which MIDI 'notes' correspond to your drum sounds, and use the piano roll MIDI editor to create your drum parts. MIDI is getting an overhaul soonish, but until then the piano roll still works OK. Another option would be to use something like ModuLR's Stepchild (which I have to admit, I haven't gotten around to actually 'using', but when it loads up it looks neato.
). I don't have a link offhand, but do a search of this forum to get a bunch of hits.
Note that there aren't MIDI loops just yet, so you'll have to cut and paste to simulate 'looping'.
2. The multiple outs can still be used from within EnergyXT, which seems to be the solution many Tracktioneers have gone with while waiting for Rack Filters. You can download a public beta and see if it meets your needs.
I just bought it yesterday, and I know many people here are in love with it. It's truly one of those programs (like Tracktion!) that can shift your whole approach to music creation, and is a tweaker's delight.
