Anyone here who got Omnisphere?

Maybe there's not that many people have received Omni yet, or, perhaps, it hasn't quite managed to live up to the hype?

Very few people got them.
Only those who jumped in right away and live in California or those who jumped in immediately and paid for Next Day Air.
And of course you really need at least a few days before you can form an opinion.

Ditto. My copy came today but I'm on jury duty so it will be the weekend before I can get the time to install it. I went with 2nd Day shipping just to ensure it would be here when I was ready.

Nice to see people are enjoying this thing.

But it seems this week fate aint to kind to me.

So i go to ILIO website on monday and place my order thinking ill get this thing this week. I checkout and it tells me my info doesn't correspond with credit cards info, great... I fix the problem and checkout again, now it says declined. I try again, declined. I call bank they tell me my card has been charged TWICE, like wtf mate. I call ILIO they say they don't have anything about my order in the records, great. I call bank again the next day wait for an hour and a half on the phone while they resolve these glitches... "Sorry we are having difficulty contacting our department that handles this" LOL... So now i have to wait till friday morning till all this clears up and my double-charge is gone...

Now im not sure if i want to order from ILIO again, waiting another week for Omni wont be pleasant.

It's a bad thing I literally cannot afford Omnisphere. Cuz I'd snatch it up right now. Just to toy with it.

I'd have to say Spectrasonics and Rob Papen's stuff are my favorite sounding shiznit out there. Along with Toontrack. Pettinhouse's samples. EWQL. Dammit. Too many to list.

Thanks to the whole entire Spectrasonics team for this one, you guys really raised the bar for anything that calls itself a vsti now!Looking forward to the video's..

I can clean up my cpu tomorrow and uninstall many other would be vsti's now!8)

One thing I noticed is the multi's are a bit cpu heavy,but who cares they sound better then anything I've heard in 20 years of hardware synth's to now.. wow, I had no idea it was gonna be this good..

And you can add your own tags to factory patches and soundsources, so you can make them searchable on tags that you create, if you want. Plus, of course, you can add tags to your own patches. A video tutorial to demonstrate all this is on the way.

You'll find notes, search tags, and pictures not only for patches, but for the soundsources as well. The notes for patches are generally performance notes while the notes for soundsources are generally about how the sound was made.

Does it have the marvellous 'sound info' details for every patch ? The phot and history, etc. ?

And many of them have pretty pictures. You can also search the sound sources by library, if they are part of the bonus content. E.g. search those for "Zimmer" or "Atmosphere" and the sound sources from those libraries appear.

I would like to hear what users think about how Omni sounds. I'm particularly interested in 'electronicky' synthy sounds - how does Omni compare with other VST's at producing punchy basses, greasy analog pads, or ripping leads?

Is there any reason that someone with my taste for strange, spacey, dubby, electronic, funky, synthetic sounds (rather than organic, shiney, twinkley, polished tones - sorry, Per's patch demo left me cold) would want to buy Omni?

Again, please don't take this as a dig at Omni's expense - I am genuinely interested to hear if Omni might be of use to me.

In addition to 10 LP, 2HP and 1 notch filter, there are also two comb filters, an allpass and a bandpass.

EDIT:, apparently my list of filters was conservative. I'd been looking at the help file and hadn't cross-referenced against my current version. It looks like there are far more filters.

Yes indeed, Omnisphere has both.

The comb filter is called "Metal Pipe"

Thanks! I'm a huge fan of Nimrod Nol and the timbral versatility he can get from his violin truly impress me. He's just as home with haunting melodic songs as with electronica. Did you hear his visceral tremolo towards the end? I haven't heard another violinist do anything like that before... I wish he were in the U.S. more often.

Yes, there are lots of those too. There are too many sounds to go through quickly.

When Atmosphere first came out, I spent a few days auditioning every single patch from start to finish. I don't have any idea how long it would take me with Omnisphere, and the modulation options are huge. You can dirty sounds up easily with the FM, ring-modulation and waveshaping and if you look at other categories, like distortion, they bear little resemblance to the sounds in the demo I put up today.

Well, I can't tallk about all this too much or there won't be much left for the review. Plus my food in the other room will get cold.
