I played a little with the GUI Editor and got a skin that has only the features of the PPG Wave 2.2. For that I copied all folders of Synthmaster 2.0 to a new folder and renamed the .exe file to "SM2_PPG Wave". You have to remove the presets because they are for a different synth and will crash the program. Works quite well.

I would like to have an undo function and a "Save as..." function in the GUI Editor. Tat would be really nice.

With the GUI Editor you can set your own set of controls. If you only need 3 envelopes, 1 LFO, 2 wavetables OSCs and 1 Lowpass filter you can do this with the GUI Editor. The modules are still the same. Works a bit like SynthEdit.
I still have a copy of the "standard" Synthmaster 2.0 which i can use when i need it. Like i said i copied the files and renamed the .exe file for the "new" synth. Since you have different parameters you can not use the old presets for that "new" synth. This way you could "build" your own synth besides having a copy of the original.
So the Editor is much more than just a GUI editor, it's a "synth builder". Only problem will be the VST version.

:!: So far it seems that the VST version doesn't work. Any other experiences ??

If its really not there could you consider adding it to the mod sources Bulent ? ( As well as CC4 -Foot controller- if possible ?)

That's an important remark, thanks Ltz!

Now, regarding MIDI CC's I have 2 options:

1. Allow assigning MIDI CC's to any parameter. "Assign" means, the parameter value is overwritten (not modulated) by CC.

2. Allow modulation of parameters by commonly used CCs.

Which way should we go?
Hmmm just add mod wheel and CC4 ( Foot controler) to the + or Multiply ùodulations sources menu options first (in the midi sub menu). Thats how most of the synths work. It allows you to control tremoloe strength (or speed) with the mod wheel for example. Mod Wheel and Foot Controller ar used in real time, while playing, to modulate the instrument. So usually you start from the specifed value (in the preset ) and add or remove something.

If you wanna add the possibility to remote control each parameter by assigning any Midi Controler ( Mapping) to it for people who use daws or keyboards with a lot of knobs/sliders (or control surfaces) then usually you'll want the knob or slider to overwrite the patch value and control the whole range of the parameter. This is often possible when right clicking a parameter and then a learn mode wich recognize the midi CC when you move a slider and assign this CC to That parameter. Usually the complete mapping of all parameters can be saved as a template. ( So that if you have several midi controlers you can swith templates to the one that match)

Another one : Default value : Is it possible to add Ctrl+Click to return any parameter to its default value (or modulation ammount ) This is especially handy for parameters like Tune and fine tuning. its really a hassle to turn the konb with the mouse to return it to zero when you want to reset the pîtch of lets say an OSC.

Also I have encountered some quite frequent graphic bugs whith the modulation rings. Sometimes you assign a LFO, and a (graphic ) modulation shows. ( But is not active. Ie you have not already set the ammount of the modulation). Then sometimes the modulation ring is splitted in two parts  :-o (ie like broken )( While not beeing related to the actual modulation soundwise). Quite weird and disturbing.

More to come )(Im on hollydays the reason why its quite slow :))

Wait for the new version, you'll be able to instantiate multiple skins!

Each having its own "default" preset.

Just create a "default" preset using the default skin (as it has all the parammeters layed out". Next, copy it over to the folder where your skin resides and rename it to "default.smpr"

smpr stands for SynthMasterPReset

:!: When the VST plugin should work you must copy the whole "Synthmaster2beta" folder to you vstplugins folder or set a link for the .dll file in your daw. In Synthmaster 1.0.5 you just had to copy the dll file to the vstplugins directory.
Opposing to version 1 Synthmasters own patch browser also works in the VST version now !!

that sounds like a hassle

would be nice if that could be done simpler, like you described with version 1.0.5

I'm sorry I cant explain much in these days. As soon as we're beta, I'm gonna start preparing videos, manuals, etc...

Dont worry we'll have an installer coming up

We're not even beta yet :) When I'm done with completing feature set we'll be officially beta.

I just found that in the VST version it could happen that the "KV331 Audio" which is written on the top right side of the GUI could be "blurred". Some kind of GUI refresh problem i guess. It doesn't happen always but i had it two times now. Disappears after closing and opening again. I used Ableton Live 8.0.4 as a DAW.

Yeah, we absolutely need that.

Also, when you are creating a new skin, you should be able to copy from an existing one! I'll add that too!

BTW, the skin editor is a bit slowww... Microsoft .NET framework issues :(

Yes, I did indeed.

I'm gonna add commonly used MIDI CC's as modulation sources as well.
But that means breaking older presets, so I'd better finish that in 1-2 days.

My advice to you folks is, dont rush into creating presets for the next 3-5 days until everything settles down :)
