anybody home? seems awefully quiet lately????

No kidding. Maybe because it's stablizing out now and they've worked out the kinks? :) Always a good thing. I hope to slam Beta 14 against the wall a few times tonite too. :)

Sorry for the lack of info guys, but we have been working on a totally new ASM + SSE code that will rock the house. CPU usage droped 80% without sound compromise (actually, NO changes on the sound) but we still need to resolve a few things before we can show to you guys. ;)

So is that a hint to wait for Beta 15 then William? ;)

Devon

Ohhh yeah, I even removed the current beta files so people wait for the next one. You will like the CPU usage droped. ;)

hahaha William... I like it already and I've not even seen it! :D

Is this 80% reduction additional to the already reduced CPU usage in beta 14? Then you´ll revolutionize the VST world.

Well, did the test anyway since I had d/l it before you removed them. ;) I guess my 2.53ghz must suck compared to Ford Prefect's PIII, because with all 3 ocs and 16 note polyphony I was getting around 30% CPU and 45% with LP filter. With Beta 14 I got 20% CPU and 25% with LP Filter. Very confused.

Now I'm confused...Maybe I did something wrong...I probably read the mail too quickly as I was very short on time the other day...I was going to rerun the test after you posted, but she's expired on me now...Either way...14 is much friendlier on the CPU...I'll just have to wait for the next one to see what I didn't do...sorry

Guys, sorry for the delay on the next beta. Programing in ASM (Assembler) is very hard, but yes, CPU usage is way lower now. ;) I don't know if it will be 80% less compared to the latest beta, let's see...

Ford, I was turning all 3 channels to channel 1, and laying my arm across my keyboard to make sure I hit 16 note polyphony. How'd you do it?

Devon

Be carefull, some keyboards send only a max of 12 notes at one time. I know cause my darn Oxygen does that. Off course, who would play more than 12 notes on that small keyboard anyway...

When I do the testing, I put 16 notes on the sequencer and hit play and hold it for a few seconds, this way I can take the really peak usage. ;)

I don't think my 76 key Yamaha W-5 has the 12 key limitation, only a polyphony limitation. :) I also notice when I release the keys, the CPU usage jumps by 15%-20% for a bit. Guess I'll just wait until Beta 15. :)

kewl as hell William ASM should be amazing...

I know anything I've ever seen in pure assembly code runs clean and fast as a rabbit....

I think my first real audio app that used that was Samplitude and back in the day, that was just amazing...

so I look forward to your ASM changes with great expectations....

hope 15 is nearby... as my 14 seems to think it has expired it's time??? is that right?
