These are just mockups, there's absolutely nothing coded yet, but I want to settle the design before starting to code.

Would you like us to post here our thoughts re: interface?

That would be great. If you have suggestions, feedback, now's the best time to say it! Making changes at this post is almost free. Once the code is started, it'll get much more expensive to make changes...alcomposer wrote:Hey Makira,

One thing that has annoyed me in the current SonicBirth is that if I copy and paste couple of elements, only the first one of them stays marked, so before moving them I have to manually click all the others in order to move them as a group. I can't mark by dragging, because then I will also mark the original elements half way underneath.
After copy->paste I would prefer all of the copies staying marked so I can easily move them out of the mess.

Just a few thoughts:
1) Maybe go with a darker interface (if its set in stone, however if user changeable then don't worry- buttons look nice)
2) Kind of like point 1) any thoughts on user editable interface like SB1?
3) Would be great to get some sort of feedback GUI elements worked out now as well, such as values, volume, waveform displays etc… (maybe go with point 4 below)
4) Somehow to have a custom window element that allows custom interaction and design? (such as drawing in a waveform or wavetable etc- will be very useful for synthesis and effects). Also to display custom graphics- FFT series?
5) Obviously some elements could be faked if you want, (such as designing a volume slider that has a transparency so that if one was to place a volume level behind it would look like it was then animated). Such as an rms volume meter...
6) A gui element that allows MIDI sequencing? (or a design for the custom gui element). Obviously I am thinking on the lines of Reaktor now a bit…

make it so we can use our own images for dials and faders .... and allow the images to be PNG so they can be full color and transparent
make a sizeable image module that will respond to what ever integer is fed to it to display what ever image is assigned to each value (1...127) of the image module... so it can be used Meters or displays (perhaps you want to display amp images or naked women or a glowing Valve) ... I'm sure you follow
Allow Fonts to be Sizeable ... and Style-able and Transparent .... ( no Background )
add a proper presets menu for it to store massive amounts of presets so guys making keyboards don't have a 20 meter scrolling list and allow in that presets menu for FAVOURITES allow it to be sorted for favourites a good example would be Omnisphere or Rob Papen subboom bass
above all make it output VST3 with proper VST3 SIDE-CHAINS
give it the ability to Select 5 or 6 Elements on any layer ...right click and MOVE them into a new sub circuit ...
Give it the ability to Save Circuits so we can build libraries that can be Placed into a new design with a click ...

Sorry about that, new build on sonicbirth.com
I've been very busy with the Metakine promo ( https://deals.macupdate.com/metakine/ ).
I'm currently taking steps to reduce the amount of time I have to spend on those apps and focus more on SonicBirth.

Thanks for the update Makira! Some great apps you have there! Any new features in the new build- or simply a change of expiry date?
Cheers

Except for a bug fix, there is no new feature. I've started working on custom GUI for the exported plugins, but it's not ready yet.alcomposer wrote:Thanks for the update Makira! Some great apps you have there! Any new features in the new build- or simply a change of expiry date?

Sample & Hold and Random are not new? Random is running at the sample rate?

Forgot about 'Sample and hold', indeed, it is new. Trig must be >= 1 for sampling. Random is not new though, and does run at the sample rate.Kewl wrote:Sample & Hold and Random are not new? Random is running at the sample rate?
