What is the experience with thread count vs CPU cores? 4 threads for a i7 Quad-core or 8 threads for 8 logical cores? The default is not based on the CPU detection and is only a recommendation?

Yes, test a few settings. Less threads might work better with more Repro-5 instances. You don't want multiple instances hoarding all the cores.

This is so cool! I love you guysUrs wrote:Absolutely!
- First you need to copy a Satin preset to Repro-1.data\Modules\Velvet\ (on Mac it's probably Repro-5.data/Modules/Velvet/)Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:How'd you do that, and does it work the other way too?
- Then, open it in a text editor and remove everything til the line #cm=Satin
- Rename the #cm=Satin to #cm=Velvet
- Done. You don't even need to reload Repro-5.
Hopefully, there will be official instructions in the final manual

Having a VERY different experience here in The Upside Down...Hanz Meyzer wrote:Really nice.
Runs very stable here and looks beautiful on macos 10.12.6 4k. Also never reaches CPU 1core limit, even with HQ and w/o multicore. CPU is max. 132% with patch "HS Mannequin" on a i7 4770 4x 3,4ghz in multicore / hq mode. So I guess some overhead (+32%) for multicore mode?
Preset browser is fantastic!
Except for the blocky-moving scrollbar, since it feels very weird and non intuitive. IMO either:
- Content pixelwise scroll, scrollbar pixelscroll. Like when the next page is reached while moving scrollbar, there is a quick content scroll transition to the next page.
- Another scrollbar concept, like a "flexible tabbar": [XXX| | ] <- for 3 pages
- Or at least indicate the full scrollbar area with a slight grey
(with all 8 notes playing)

Of course, I'm using an old 2012 HP Pavilion laptop powered by a hamster wheel, so...

Included Ableton screenshot. But yeah, to be fair, its an old dual-core system with only 4 GB of RAM.

Ok ... After trying this new U-he plugin for about an hour i've bought it !
Im speachless really. I own several analog synth : Boomstar 4074, Ms20, OB6 , Elektron box and pro5 just blow my mind.
The ENV are just right on the Pro5 and i might sell my Boomstar that has very snappy env and its one of the reason i keep it.
Sure its kinda CPU heavy but it was expected.
Nice work !

That would be awesome!eivindengedal wrote:I plan to do that, but I didn’t have the time to do that today. Next up is trying to recreate my favorite self made patches from the prophet 8. Maybe I can do without it now.Elektronisch wrote:Thank you! can you give more of patch comparisons?eivindengedal wrote:Here is a very quick comparison I did with my Dave Smith Prophet 8 (same sound as the rev2):

The first one is always the DSI pro8.
I have only had the Repro-5 beta for about one hour, so this is indeed a first impression. I am pretty impressed by how quick you can come up with useable presets on the Repro-5, as I used about 2 minutes to make the pad patch in the end. I think the two synths sound pretty similar, but they both have a character of their own.
Download for uncompressed sound.
I am very impressed with Repro-5!
Crazy that the Repro-5 runs great on my ancient MacBook Pro (i7), and big props to u-he for making it able to use multiple cores. Several single core softsynths (serum, reactor 6) are borderline unusable on my system.
Nevertheless Urs you and your team did amazing job, Repro 5 is amazing. Now i have a Prophet and it doesnt take my desk space

Yup it affects all UHE plugins in Studio One on Mac as far as I can tell. Don't use S1 that much and obviously have never tried to save a Patch in this DAW in the years I have used them. No big deal for me.Urs wrote:Win is fine, MacOS is culprit.egbert wrote:I am not seeing this in Studio One PC 64 bit using Repro 5 beta. When opening the Save patch dialog box it’s completely white wth no color or text visible. Anyone else see this.

Urs, I wish that you would consider developing a hardware controller for both Repro and Diva. Now that I’ve gotten back into hardware synths with lots of knobs to play with, using a mouse with software isn’t much fun anymore. If U-he sold a tabletop controller that worked flawlessly with both Diva and Repro, and it was priced below $500, I would be your first customer.

@Urs
Mac OSX 10.11.6
i just tested Repro-5 inside Maschine 2 & also in Komplete Kontrol as NKS. (all latest versions, in standalone).
i think i found a bug with NKS:
the controls are all over the place. what is labeled "cutoff" on the controller display actually controls "resonance" in the software. same goes for a lot of other controls.
i tested Repro-5 also in Ableton Live, no such problems there.

Did I read right the Repro-5 upgrade is free to existing Repro-1 owners?
Only thing missing from the beta so far seems to be parameter lock. Otherwise its looking very finished on Windows.

I keep saying I'd pay $1,500 - $2,000 for a kick-ass Diva/generic-VA controller with a 61-key keyboard. I bought a System-8 mostly for that purpose (works ok, has shortcomings). I don't think U-he will be taking me up on that anytime soon though.quantum7 wrote:Urs, I wish that you would consider developing a hardware controller for both Repro and Diva. Hey all,
Been following the OG thread for nearly a year. So excited for this to come out. I've got a Prophet 6 and thought I'd A/B test them so you guys can hear. (Well aware this is a P5 Emulation but this is the closest current thing out to compare it to.)
Here it is :
