I used plugindoctor to get the sense of what's going on there in terms of filtering. Here's a frequency response of different colors for the first echo:

And to think I thought I had gotten a returned broken one, zvenx wrote:Someone very wise suggested to me the way to listen is indeed mix at 100% but taps at 0% to hear what the colour modes sound like...

I feel like building a dedicated colour controller.
It could look similar to this

It's OK: many thanks .tasmaniandevil wrote:On Mac, go to the user library application support folder (/Users/username/Library/Application Support/u-he). In this u-he folder, there is a file called com.u-he.ColourCopy.plist, it holds the beta tester serial. Delete this plist file, then start your host, load ColourCopy (which will now be in demo-mode again), and you can enter your serial number.

This is a great addition to the repertoire of U-he
. Very organic. One issue, but maybe it's a feature:
Am I correct in finding that the Rate knob (or more correctly the Rate function) behaves differently when edited on screen with the mouse versus controlled by CC learn? When moving the knob with the mouse the pitch changes momentarily but further signal is processed with the 'old' pitch, only the quality is more lofi. When controlled with a midi CC the Rate function acts as a permanent pitch shifter/sample rate changer. The pitch stays lower/higher, even the dry signal is processed this way.

GUI is nice, would be even nicer without the faux wood from the sides.
Someone please make all black/grey skin without the wood. Looks so much better as a monolith dark block. More modern and slick.
u-he, try to restrain yourselves from using faux wood. it's an old cliche that needs to go away. it probably was cool ten years ago, but not anymore.
I understand CoCo was inspired by my grandma's vintage socks, but contemporary, advanced products don't need this stuff. u-he products certainly do not.

i'm surprised to see someone care to such an extent.
what's "cool" now will be outdated eventually, too.

I have more delays than I know what to do with, but it turns out I might need one more.
This is fantastic!
Well done, Urs & Co.

Ok, what does this delay do different? because it sounds amazing just on default settings and by changing the rate. It gives that big robust feeling on chords, arps and it doesnt make the sound too busy as with most of delays. And the ducking effect sounds so different then in lets say Replika XT, on replika on chords per say it sounds more like sidechained reverb then delay wich is opposite in CC.
Im using Echoboy mainly and also have Replika XT, but i cannot make them to sound like CC even on default settings. Anyone maybe succeeded to do so?
Really good job, i never thought ill be so impressed by such a simple looking delay.

Woah, thank you!
I don't know how those other delays work, but if they use the classic approach and if they have modulation, the modulation of delay time imprints on the feedback. This is like a doppler effect which can get pretty chaotic with some feedback. I'd say close to 100% of delay plug-ins work like that, including most of ours. In Colour Copy the content of the delay line is always untampered by such, no matter what the modulation. So once audio has entered the delay line, the modulation is synchonous for each feedback iteration to come. No randomly drifting doppler effects.
Also of course, the bucket brigade approach requires very steep filtering. Part of why CoCo isn't exactly a "crunchy" delay is its restricted bandwidth, as result of the filtering. The algorithms are very modern, but I guess this makes its tone rather vintage.
The ducking thing is as I said... if you duck a delay that gives room to a monophonic signal, you also duck the room away. In CoCo we leave the first taps unducked. This preserves the impression of space, while at the same time containing much of the mudd.

It's real wood, not faux wood.Dullee wrote:GUI is nice, would be even nicer without the faux wood from the sides.
