Bug report:
Mixer:
On the very bottom of the Audio Out lane(s) where the stereo pair of outputs is displayed,
for me it shows 'Out 1 + Out 1' instead of 'Out 1 + Out 2' when I have selected Out 1 and Out 2.
Or ''Out 3 + Out 3' instead of 'Out 3 + Out 4' when I have selected Out 3 and Out 4.
I have Out 1, 2, 3 and 4 available for my device.
Seems not to be quite right.

Also, it can’t recognize Reason Rack “FX”

I tried to reproduce in EXT64 and indeed I also got distorted sound first.
I then increased the buffer size for my MOTU M Series ASIO audio device in the Audio Setup from 128 to 256 and the sound is now fine.
Maybe something like this could also work for you?

Cheers,
Patrik
I was already using 512 buffer size. I tried various higher and lower settings to see if it made any difference, but had no luck. I am using a Line6 Pod Studio UX2. I tried the dedicated UX2 driver and the ASIO4ALL driver, but both of them have the problem. I've tried 24-bit and 16-bit depths too, but that made no difference for me. I'll try to test it again later.

If you have FL Studio installed, you can use FL Studio ASIO as the audio driver in EnergyXT and/or EXT64. I've been doing that for years now and it works slightly better on some systems. It works in Reaper too. Also, disable the inputs if you don't need them for more CPU power back.

Energy XT still has better MIDI editing than Reaper in my opinion.

I still see the problem using the FL ASIO driver. I think I should submit a bug report.

I don't know what proble would be with using the FL Studio ASIO. It's just another ASIO driver. But if you don't want it, you could still use something else. If it's a bug, maybe. I don't have any troubles with it year after year.

Hmm, actually, I was having some trouble with FL Studio ASIO in EXT64 recently too, all of a sudden.
I think it actually and oddly might be related to the webcam's control of audio latency. I set the webcam audio latency to zero which helped, but then I needed to set other program buffers higher, for example, from 256 to 512, but FL Studio ASIO was set for 256. But I don't really use audio inputs, so wherever I could disable the inputs (set to 0) it was good. It gets confusing with so many different protocols for audio, though. And I'm using a nonstandard OS configuration. FL Studio still works on it's own, though on my system. But in the past it was fine. It might even still be fine.

Computers have too many differening and random "moving parts" with so many switchable settings. They are a minefield for overcomplexity.

Exporting a project to wave seems to take forever. I wonder if it’s running in 1x time? Haven’t measured so cannot say for sure. My project consisted of only audio tracks with no plugins whatsoever.
Anyone else experience the same performance from the export function?

Do you have EnergyXT2 (32-bit)? As you are only using wav files, it might be worthwhile comparing the export times of EnergyXT2 and EXT64.

Yeah, I used to run it before I upgraded my computer. Cannot run the older versions anymore unfortunately. See viewtopic.php?p=8813942#p8813942

I could try to run it under wine in Linux though but it seems to be a bit of hassle to mix 32 and 64 bit libraries.

I have Windows 10 on an i7-9700, and EnergyXT2.7 runs fine here.

I've been using EXT64 for a couple of years now, and am quite happy with it generally. I'm using it for over 50% of my new projects. There are a couple of things I've noticed in all versions up to and including the latest beta.

1) audio distortion when multiple routing single-out VSTis to multiple audio outs or VST FX. I reported this to xtsware.com a couple of months ago, but haven't heard anything back yet.
2) crackles when playing back audio in the sequencer with medium/large projects. Renders from the same projects are fine.

I really miss the ability to use the old EnergyXT2 xts and xte presets. The Drum Sampler and Synthesizer were very useful. If I want to use some of those old drumkits, I have to load EnergyXT2 to access them. The same applies with the xts synth patches, and the xte multi FX.

EnergyXT being 32bit can't use VST3 64bit plugins , right ?
I have to use EXT64 for that inside Reaper...
I wanted to use it for the piano roll exactly becuase it is better than that of Reaper even with tweaks but then of course I have to load VST inside EnergyXT / EXT64 instead.

Unless I misunderstood something:
You can't use EXT64 in Reaper.
EXT64 only comes as an executable, a standalone DAW.
Not in form of a plugin (VST dll) which you could load in Reaper.
The last version of energyXT which also was available as a VST dll I think was 2.6 - like 12 years ago.
Unfortunately :(

hi guys, sorry i was away for such a long time.
actually, the most recent times i tried to use FLSTUDIO ASIO in EnergyXT or EXT64, it didn't work on my system.
But maybe that's because I was having other Linux audio problems. But years ago, the FLSTUDIO ASIO worked better than ASIO4ALL2 on my systems so I used that a lot.

Lately, I've been using Reaper instead of EnergyXT or EXT64, but I'd rather use them. Reaper's MIDI is just really dorky when it comes to quantizing. Also, I miss EnergyXT's beat matching timestretching, but there is something similar in REAPER.

I wish there was something else in between because we hardly get any updates in XT, and the REAPER devs are deeply stubborn about leaving the MIDI as it is and I doubt they will ever change.
