Except I wouldn’t be so quick to blame Apple this time.Tj Shredder wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2022 1:24 pm Its almost 2023 and Apple still breaks working systems… Has anybody a firewire interface connected and working?
If it was installed before the upgrade to the new OS, everything seems to still be okay.
As mentioned before, Waves may have done. Cash grab and arbitrarily decided to require a new version Just to install again.
NI has the exact same problem on both Mac and Windows. I think that’s more NI.
iLok seems to have an Avid related issue to why some things are not working correctly and again, as long as it’s installed already you should be fine.
Lastly, it’s still a whole new operating system. If you truly want to not experience any issues, the safest way is to never upgrade.

Have you tried that yourself? I’ve read reports that Apple removed the entire firewire framework, but I’m not sure that’s actually correct.elxsound wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2022 1:44 pmExcept I wouldn’t be so quick to blame Apple this time.Tj Shredder wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2022 1:24 pm Its almost 2023 and Apple still breaks working systems… Has anybody a firewire interface connected and working?

Sorry, I don’t have anything FireWire to test with… I was more responding to the issues with plugins I mentioned in an earlier post.nanostream wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2022 5:12 pmHave you tried that yourself? If you look back I believe someone was saying they’re still using their same FireWire interface. i don’t know how or if that’s correct so I am in no way saying that’s not an issue.

Whats the actual issue with iLok? Mine is running perfectly fine here, but mine was already installed and working when I upgraded the OS.. I ran into a weird issue with Waves a couple weeks ago where Waves Central just would not let me select anything to install. I could click something in the main window, move to another window and come back, and it would finally show the checkbox selected, but the install button and what not never worked, and selecting multiple plugins wasn't happening. Uninstalling worked great, and that left me with nothing on the system heh.elxsound wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2022 12:46 am Another issue:
iLok. Apparently iLok is still not supported on Ventura but supposedly Apple and iLok are working on the issue.
I ran into this problem trying launch Softube Central to look for updates but couldn’t install the iLok helper.
To be clear, this seems to relate to installing. I’ve had numerous issues now with NI, Waves and Softube (iLok) due to installing things.
The NI issues are the same on PC and Windows, relating to permissions and dependencies.
Waves are just money hungry restricting Ventura installs to newest Waves version only. It’s their right to make a paid update necessary and of course my right to move the f**k on.
Plugins already installed seem to work without issue and iLok licensing works just fine.
Cant remember exactly what I did to fix it, but it took a complete wipe and reinstall of everything Waves and then some to get it working again and I was able to reinstall my crap.

Per Softube rep, there’s a database issue that incorrectly identifies iLok License Manager as Avid Pro Tools. Supposedly those that are affected may have disabled Pro Tools from the login startup (or at least that’s how I understood it).mothra wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2022 6:27 pmWhats the actual issue with iLok? Apple and iLok appear to be blaming each other, but are both looking into it.
It could very well be the case for me since I did just deleted ProTools everything from my computer. Done with Avid. Done with Waves.

Ahhh ok, that was happening during the beta too, figured iLok would've had that fixed by now hah. Hopefully I dont have to reinstall my whole system any time soon, I'd be dead with those authorizations!elxsound wrote: Wed Dec 28, 2022 8:00 pm Per Softube rep, there’s a database issue that incorrectly identifies iLok License Manager as Avid Pro Tools.
