Good point. Maybe its just a clip launcher only without the abiity to record audio or midi ?

Yeah, seemingly Fender design it for guitarists.jamcat wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 9:13 pm This looks like some idiot beatmaker with the mind of a goldfish designed it.

Who was it again that was protesting that they didn't want a clip launcher in Studio One in the past year?

I sure didn't want one. But with that out of the way, I guess Presonus can start tackling more interesting feature resquests.

According to the S1 subreddit, Studio One 7 has already leaked, lol.
I wonder if Presonus will pivot by bringing the official release forward? Kinda sucks to wait 3 weeks when pirates already have it

I'm not convinced it's genuine. There is no way they are going to ditch the volume envelopes, they couldn't possibly be that stupid. The song is called "Seventh Heaven", so maybe it is just a mock-up of what this guy/gal wants it to look like?jamcat wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 8:49 pmWell that looks like absolute shit. What's with the rounded corners on the audio parts?
They've really dumbed it down beyond recognition. It's a pass for me, for the first time.
If it is genuine, I can see Presonus losing a lot of current users. The people who watch Gregor's videos will probably hang around but those who get more from Joe won't see any value in these additions/changes. It's stupid because there are plenty of other options out there, nobody needs to work in Studio One.
That said, I installed Cubase 13 (trial) the other night but the first time I fired it up, I realised how f**king stupid I was being. There is just no way I am going back, it would involve far too much work. We've got the dozen songs we made for the one album we did in Cubase but I'd have to port another 70 or 80 songs over if I change hosts again. That's just not going to happen. Orion would be a smarter option but, for the time being at least, I am probably going to be stuck with v6, which means I now have a very limited window of opportunity to get my current stability issues resolved.
Interestingly, I got in contact with Presonus, to tell them what I thought of their idiotic plans, but their response indicated they don't really give a f**k what their users think.

Then where the f**k are they? Why can we not see them in that screenshot?
No, he knows what he's talking about and you don't. As he said, you can select multiple audio or MIDI clips and group (audio)/combine(MIDI) them into a single clip by pressing "G", they don't have to be, and in my workflow rarely do, remain fixed for very long.rageix wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 9:24 pmI guess it depends how you think about it. You have a more old school view because you think about it more like an analog tape. I look at clips like sound blocks or containers, "units of sound" as I call it.
Where have the volume envelope handles gone? If you think anyone who has worked with Studio One for any length of time will be happy they are gone, or even hidden, you (and Presonus) are in for a big shock. As I said, though, I'm not convinced this screenshot is genuine, so I'll reserve judgement.I don't see how it really affects anything else you listed.
Yeah but how much more instability will come along with it?Uncle E wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 9:35 pmAgreed! A bit ironic that this will add a lot more than 5 and 6 did.
They are always there in the EDIT view.apoclypse wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 10:03 pmIt's hard to tell because in S1 grouped audio clips don't have fade handles, so loops you have dropped in from S1's library for the most part are grouped audio clips. If you bounce them the fade handles do appear.
I assume then, that you are one? Because clearly you do not understand.JasonSpatola wrote: Thu Sep 19, 2024 11:58 pmI'm pretty sure beatmakers and "loop producers" use crossfades, dude.
I don't think anyone expects them to remove features but some of us preferred the more stripped-down Artist version, which they are ditching.SeeingInMidi wrote: Fri Sep 20, 2024 3:15 amAnd that specific user that types in caps here that wishes Presonus would remove features in future updates, what are you on?
Because they are not there in that screenshot.andypryce wrote: Fri Sep 20, 2024 6:34 amHow can you think that a DAW might be removing the basic fade/crossfade functionality??
As someone whose living depends upon being up on such things, I can assure you that rounded corners have been out of fashion for a decade or more. Straight edges and sharp corners remain in vogue.

Well, if you are used to paying $129 every two years, which I already thought was too much for an upgrade, then being expected to pay $149 every year is, indeed, beyond justification. Maybe everybody else is doing the same but maybe that's why I'm with Presonus?koalaboy wrote: Fri Sep 20, 2024 2:25 pmIt's transparent and simple, and anyone complaining about the cost really hasn't looked outside at what everything costs these days...

The trick is only upgrading when you think there is sufficient value, I don’t think I have actually ‘needed’ and upgrade since V5…but wait for a few versions (years) to pass and maybe a 50%off sale and I update anyway…BONES wrote: Sun Sep 22, 2024 7:57 amWell, if you are used to paying $129 every two years, which I already thought was too much for an upgrade, then being expected to pay $149 every year is, indeed, beyond justification.
