Was the ChatGPT thing a joke? Sorry, if it was.

TBH a lot of interface changes, and I'm finding it a bit intimidating. My update plan is currently inactive and I can't decide whether it's better to leap in and play with the beta to try to keep with folks who are learning this as they go along now, or wait until there are more and better tutorials out, and a stable release.

It's true that it looks a bit different. But in a lot of ways, I think it makes the program more simple. A lot of the weird old rules about how automation lanes work and how to hide/show/manage them are gone, replaced with a more robust and straightforward system that's also more flexible, IMO. (No more weird + and * and X buttons for automation lanes...)

Device racks, routing, audio editing, etc., are mostly unchanged and are usually some of the more difficult parts to learn, due to their depth, I think.

It's worse since the previous graphics upgrade. Not taking chances now. That's all I'm saying.
No, it's not. It's actually slightly better. You might have an AI addiction problem.
On my hardware it is. Are you serious with that remark about AI? Still growing up right?
Well, if you ask AI instead of judging by yourself... mmmh...

cfernn wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 6:01 pm Just noticed 6 doesn't offer the lighter arranger background? Hopefully this will be an option again in the near future? You can't just remove things!! But seriously, please bring it back
In the settings (bottom right corner of arrange) you can set the background of arrange from about what it was before to dark.
You can also adjust grid lines.
It's still darker than before I think, even on most light settings, isn't it? Waiting for theming update :D

It could be meant as a joke, then it is fine i think? Or should we ask ChatGPT first just to be sure?

Congrats! For me, beta6 feels snappier and more “mature”?…

It’s something under the gui which gives me a feel of a pro DAW.

I just opened up Bitwig 5 to see if a bug was new in 6 or not, and it felt like going back in time 100 years.

Not stable for me. In the space of an hour I've had several audio engine crashes and several app crashes.

I've been exploring the new grid modules (Root Key, By Scale, Scale Steps, and Pitch Class) to see what I can do with those, and trying to make them follow changes in key signature. Nothing fancier than that… though everything I'm doing leans heavily on those new features.

The crashes may be partly due to me being on macOS 26 beta.

Why is it limited to such a standard palette of scales? Would be better if you could just import Scala files or create your own

Yeah, it's odd. There's also no way to hide it or turn it off. I have a pelog heptatonic song for Indonesian gamelan and Bitwig is proudly displaying C Major at the top of the project and there's no way to hide it or dim it or turn it off :P

Really? No way to turn it off is not good

Well, it doesn't affect how the project plays back or is edited, but it is misleading and distracting.
