Overdrive Module
Bank name display
Swappable knob
and other stuff
Liqih, great work. I *LOVE* the overdrive module and the AM modulation. I couldn't seem to get the swappable knob thing to work. About the Bank name display, it is useful (for me) how you have implemented it, but I would like to see the bank name across the top, and also the patch name underneath.

This is really shaping up nicely indeed. I am especially happy about the hollowsun samples mentioned on the 'about' page- any clues as to content that may ship with EVE 2 release version?

Hi,

beta 1u is ready and now I'd need some "serious + spare time available" users for deep testing of ALL features of EVE 2, both on Windows and OS X, VST and AU,

these betatesters will get the EVE 2 upgrade for free,

PM or write me to apply, when we'll have enough I'll post here a message,

for OS X users only: please add your system setup spec

thanks

Seems I am always one beta version late, downloading this one now.
I found some time to play with it and I really, really like the AM and FM. They can transform and mangle a sound very effectively. Very good on the Prepared Rhodes and the Marching Band Horn, give them a whole new character.

I have also been playing with AM/FM on the Prepared Rhodes. Very Nice 8) !

Thanks, and as these 2 modes generate new frequencies and/or enhance existing frequencies thus changing the spectrum of the waveform, the use of EQ will even further reshape the sound. Of course any waveform will benefit from this but I suspect that percussive sounds may benefit a bit more than other types of sounds.

very nice addition for playability (even though I am not much of a keyboard player).

I didn't download this before because the specs seemed rather less than I'd hoped for. But am very pleasantly surprised the FM & AM modulation makes a huge difference to the sound.

A couple of things though:

- Selecting the FM and AM destinations is incredibly tedious. Couldn't the "rate" and "amount" knobs be slid over so they're directly under the B & C knobs above ? That way they'd be "two knob spaces" to make the selector panel a bit bigger.

- Couldn't the effects units have an on/off toggle somewhere ? Maybe the name of the effect unit could double as the switch ?

- I also think that the attack when on "000" isn't really 0. I can't get a really sharp attack. Seems like there's a couple of extra millseconds in there to me...

- How can I get the "non-egg" skin ? :-)

go to your global menu, select 'swap knob type editor' or whatever it is called, and close/reopen the gui, or reload the plug (depending on your host). That gets you one version with *mostly* round knobs. I believe (but you have to check with liqih to make sure) that there will also be a legacy skin with the same look as EVE 1.XX with the release version of EVE 2.

update

http://www.dashsignature.com/download/E ... D_load.zip

new:

wusikSND files are loaded directly, just drop them
in one subfolder in "EVE Data"

Multimode filter freq range changed, please let me know if you like this or the previous better

sligthly faster attack when A is at 0, anyway the EVE envelopes was designed to be smooth from start

thanks, <grin>

sounds possible

for modulator your have bypass in the menu, echo misses that, right

try the swap voice in the menu, maybe I'll add change for small knobs too, and a better round knob when I got the time

1. WusikSND load works as it should- I loaded up a whole heap of different sounds, including the beautiful 'chamberlain strings' patch from Dangerous Bear's Fuel for Wusik - it finds a nice vintage home here in EVE,

2. Multimode filter- The fact is they both sound very good. I find the newer one has a richer effect with the extended range- more of a 'character' filter than the previous multimode filter range- So, specifically for the synth waveforms and the ensembles, I prefer this one, and it sounds just as good or better on the other material too.

3. I am not sure about the faster attack. it is now more like the EVE ONE envelope- very very handy for electric pianos, organs and the raw waveforms, but the user has to adjust the attack for *some* ensemble type sounds that start at A=0 to prevent the note on 'hit'. Maybe something to consider with old preset compatability? I will check some and comment later.

Great up date to the beta!

EVE 2 will be the first MAC based softsynth to load not just the excellent DASHsnd sound libraries, but also the WUSIKsnd libraries- this should open up possibilities for quite a few users and developers.
