Watchful wrote: Wed Dec 05, 2018 10:28 pm ARP Odyssey is great. I understand some folks find it a little resource heavy, but it hasn't been so in my case at all. It lets you change which version you're using (skin changes, as well as the filter type), and it's close enough that I've been able to recreate a few of the original Odyssey patches on it back from the days when you wrote the settings down on paper.

You should be aware that the Odyssey is 64-bit only.

I originally bought whole suite because I wanted the M1, the Wavestation, and the Odyssey...and as a result got the Polysix and Mono/Poly and MS-20 for free with last year's 50% off sale. Haven't had any issues with the 64-bit versions of these at all under Windows 10, and use them quite a lot and often quite heavily.

The whole suite is really well done, although I do concur the graphics could be updated for modern monitors.
"... understand some folks find it a little resource heavy..".
Its like saying "I understand some folks think, that Pol Pot was a little naughty boy, but for me he didn't do any harm". :dog:

For my i7 laptop, many of the Odyssey presets are hitting constantly 120+ % CPU. Totally useless.
Well, Dirty Harry used a big gun he. Never failed him.
Runs without any problems here but I designed my pc so it could handle a bit off load. For any multimedia usage you know you can never have a machine that is too powerfull.

It depends on the preset also. Some reduction in the Unison/Voices helps reducing the CPU load. Yes, it is heavy really and it is actually the heaviest synth I have. But still very usable and has a great sound :)

The other Korg synths are feather light weight on CPU but needs eyes of a falcon :hihi:

Anyway, Korg is still busy with iOS it seems, so desktop users can wait (especially the Win guys!). Unless they believe it is profitable for them, they won't update anything, me think.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Korg Legacy interface is so tiny on retina monitors, I had to activate screen zoom shortcut in preferences. But hey, whatever works.

Come on, Korg...

So I wanted to boycot Korg´s stupid migration/upgrade policy, and still got the new Korg collection for christmas...

... which wouldn´t be so bad if the Odyssey worked on my system (OSX 10.14.2, Logic Pro X 10.4.3)...

... alas, it doesn´t. The AU doesn´t validate in Logic, the VST crashes Maschine, the standalone crashes without even opening first. Deleted old files, reinstalled, deleted the old authorization files, reauthorized, blah blah, no use.

Did any of you experience similar issues? :borg:

Not at all, but it does seem to really detest Logic users, from what I've seen on other forums. Especially Wavestation...how's that working for you so far?
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

All the other plugins work properly so far, just the Odyssey doesn‘t work /at all/ under Mojave. I contacted Korg support but don‘t bear high hopes for the next week and their reply...

As repeated in this tread 100x, Odyssey is a nightmare, in every way, except soundwise.
Its really pity...
I´ve got all the Korg software stuff, they sound excellent, but in Odyssey they left some butterfingers do the compatibility/CPU usage/GUI coding.

Thanks - at least it´s good to know that there´s apparently hope for me to get it to work... but now I fear trying to hunt for the issue with the Korg first level support ("please restart your computer first. if it helps good, if not come again") :borg:

Try uninstalling everything korg. Also search with „findanyfile“ for „korg“ and delete all files. Then reinstall.

Nope, all work flawlessly on Mac Sierra for me.

Working flawless here. Mac OSX High Sierra, FLStudio and Live.

I'm on OSX High Sierra, Live 10. My Korg M1 and Mono/Poly plugins work fine BUT the Wavestation (both AU and VST2) makes my DAW crashes. It happens a bit randomly when I open a new instance though it follows a pattern where I can add like 8 instances of the Wavestation and the 9th will crash everything.

This bug has been going on for a while, I've seen many people with the same issue.

Odyssey working fine here on windows 10. And by the way, the terrible cpu usage is really only when using unison, just like using Tyrell N6 or Diva with unison gets crazy. The original didn't have unison so it's not essential for the emulation. Also, I may have given this tip before, but rather than using unison, download the free Acon Multiply, which gives you a very similar sound for very low cpu use.

BONES wrote: Wed Dec 05, 2018 11:02 pm Yeah, I love the Odyssey's sound and it is really easy to sit into a mix but there is no ignoring the fact it uses two or three times as much CPU as my next most CPU-intensive plugin. I have to be really sure it's the right sound before I stick with it in a big arrangement. It's quirky layout, true to the original, also takes a bit of getting used to. If they could somehow get the CPU usage down, I'd use it a lot more.
But the Odyssey can run on old iPhones, how could it possibly take up 120% of your CPU.
