Sorry, not yet. Was distracted by work, another synth and making more patches for Repro-5.Greggers wrote:Cinebient you had a chance to perfect your dark brass patch?
Now i´m not at my computer but if you like i can send you the "raw" thing on Monday or Tuesday and you can tweak it yourself.

As soon as i finished the Prophet 5 factory presets (where i do not want to waste too much time with fine tuning the patches) i also have a look at my big free Synth Brass collection i had published for The Legend and see which patches i could re-program in Repro-5.
Repro-5 seems to be an obvious choice for doing a lot of Synth Brass patches with it and i love that kind of sounds...
Both the Osc Sync and PWM are features that could lead to a lot of interesting sounds while the same could be also true for Osc and filter FM. With Osc A it is also possible to do audio rate PWM using Osc B as a modulator.

I also like to recreate my patches i like in other synths. So i tried to recreate some patches i made from Zeeon and P900. They are of course different. P900 is a modular, Zeeon has a kind of semi-modular mod-matrix and Repro has more of a fixed architecture. But all offer oustanding analog/vintage sound and excellent audio rate modulations. It´s interesting how close sounds get if you start with the same settings and tweak it a bit. But of course each synths has it´s pro and contra and because of that neither could replace the other.Ingonator wrote:As soon as i finished the Prophet 5 factory presets (where i do not want to waste too much time with fine tuning the patches) i also have a look at my big free Synth Brass collection i had published for The Legend and see which patches i could re-program in Repro-5.

Where the real magic adds up in Repro is that you have such a great pool of FX on top which you can modulate too. Of course here i ran out of modulation slots but using a midi FX is a workaround. What sets Repro apart from all these for me is the tweaking page with micro-tuning, the voice panning (which you can modulate each one individually too), the nearly perfect midi integration and Repro seems to react best to even very subtle nuances and is so musical in any way like no other synth for me. It feels almost like an acoustic instrument.

Synth brass sound highlight both the quality of the oscillators and the filter.

For that kind of sounds both the filter envelope settings (a certain combination of attack, decay and sustain) and envelope behavior and also the filter envelope amount are essential parts and with some synths the envelope behavior and/or teh filter behavior does not really fit with such sounds.Arrested Developer wrote:Completely agree!Ingonator wrote: Repro-5 seems to be an obvious choice for doing a lot of Synth Brass patches with it and i love that kind of sounds...![]()
Synth brass sound highlight both the quality of the oscillators and the filter.
Polysynths like e.g. Prophet 5, Jupiter-8, Memorymoog, OB-Xa/OB-X and Matrix-12 seem to be perfect for those.
My Korg DW-8000 while it has digital Oscs and envelopes it has an awesome analog filter and could do really great Synth Brass sounds. As it has a second Decay and Sutain stage you could do filter sweeps not possible with standard ADSR envelopes.
When i did those sounds with The Legend i was suprised how good those sounded there even if it is "just" a polyphonic Minimoog which technically is not identical to a Memorymoog (only the filter in Memorymoog seems to be from Moog and the rest are CEM chips like in the Prophet 5 and OB-Xa).
The 12dB LPF mode in The Legend was also helpful with several patches while this is not included with the real Minimoog Model D.
UPDATE:
I had bought the DW-8000 soundbank in this video which also includes multiple nice synth brass patches besides lush pads, filter sweeps and typical digital stuff:
From the same sound designer i also got the bank for the Ensoniq ESQ-1 which includes a bunch of "typical analog" sounds too while the ESQ-1 is a digital/analog hybrid like the DW-8000:

Just did a quick fan video for a retro horror FPS game called Blood that I used to play.
It uses 9 instances (Tweaked factory presets) of Repro-5 in it for the sounds.
The original midi composition wasn't altered apart from the tempo being slowed down.
Satin was used on the master for a little more vintage mojo.
I was thinking of maybe redoing the entire soundtrack with this as a fan music pack for people who are using the BloodGDX port.

I have a brass-request.
Love this synth brass which starts at 0:42, don't know though which synth was originally used.

Great, and not a 30 year old fake brass patch in sight. Good job

Attched to this post you find the first more or less "raw" version of the 38 factory presets from the patch sheets in the Prophet 5 Rev3.3 manua. The "Brass 2" patch is a variation of the "Brass" patch and that variation is mentioned in the patch sheet.
I used a "v2" at the end of the patch names as i also used some advanced features in Repro-5 like e.g. voice panning, velocity, aftertouch routing and Reverb FX.
With some patches i tried to fine tune using audio demos found in the web and also the presets in Arturia Prophet V3. Most patches are still "raw" without fine tuning which means they mostly use the setting from the patch sheets. Still in Repro-5 they do alraedy sound mostly great IMO.
With patches where having the Modwheel engaged is important i saved a certain mod amount with the patches using the small red arrow left to the Modwheel in Repro-5. With many patches i also routed aftertouch to the mod amount.
Will try to fine tune them further if i find some time but i will not waste too much time on that. Without a real Prophet 5 Rev3.3 for comparison it is difficult to do this properly. Audio demos and presets in Arturia Prophet V3 are mostly quite different for the same patches so i do not have the "ultimate" reference for corrections yet. Also audio demos for older Rev1 and Rev2 might not really fit to those in Rev 3.3.
UPDATE:
A common source for audio demos is Synthmania:
http://www.synthmania.com/Prophet-5%20(Rev.3).htm
Some of those audio demos are difficult to use for the purpose of fine tuning patches.

Some of those 30 year old fake brass sounds are good, but not as good as Monolith Blood.Aliens wrote:V0RT3X wrote:Just did a quick fan video for a retro horror FPS game called Blood that I used to play.

I think the 30 year old fake brass sounds go with the synthesizer since it's emulating a synth made between 1978 and 1984. I'd probably have to be 40+ to appreciate those patches. jk
