Caveat emptor. I always try and remember, and ofter do, check all the details about costs, transfers, upgrades, etc. from devs I don't specifically know about. There can often be surprises with all the various policies out there. It's a mine field.systmu wrote:I am in absolute horror is I received my first email telling me my wup on a waves item is expiring in two weeks. I went to the site and found the cost to upgrade all my wave stuff for one year is $450. OMFG! wtf???? That's insane. And if wup is expired you can't transfer license??? They say theres a $300 max but mine says $448 or something I don't understand.

I haven't ever found a reason to update my WUP. I bought my first Waves plugins about ten years ago.

I agree. I'm in the same boat. I actually still do get some regular updates it seems.Jus11 wrote:I haven't ever found a reason to update my WUP. I bought my first Waves plugins about ten years ago.

It takes the newest plugin in the list and adds one year from that date as the wup end date and that usually means that some of your plugins are wup'ed for more than a year which can lead to going above 300. Either only wup the plugins that are coming up now, or wait until everything is expired and wup then, or just wup when you need it. Some retailers are also able to wup at a significantly lower price.systmu wrote:I am in absolute horror is I received my first email telling me my wup on a waves item is expiring in two weeks. Wup makes sense if you have a higher end bundle, in particular the Mercury bundle because you get many of the new plugins for free. It is not really needed in any other situation Imo.

Yes, mine is always over $300 because they are all at different expiration dates. You can just update the one you want to sell. You just check the ones you want rather than all. It is not necessary to update any you want to keep. And? About twice a year, they have a sale on the updates. If you really need to update, that is the best time to do it.systmu wrote:I am in absolute horror is I received my first email telling me my wup on a waves item is expiring in two weeks. The only time I update is when they've added something to my bundle that is worth the update price. So mine ran out in April. Since I have no plans to sell my bundle, there is no need. Though they did add a couple more new plugs....
I should note that I have a PC. I hear that if you have a Mac and update the OS regularly, you may need to keep your WUP current.

I have a Mac and Sierra (most recent OS) and most of my Waves plugs are out of WUP. YMMV.dzilizzi wrote:Yes, mine is always over $300 because they are all at different expiration dates. Thank god we finally have a common understanding of how WUP works at KVR now.
That being said, waves still seem to be doing a poor job of explaining it to new customers, seeing how the same questions keep popping up about every other week.
Top notch customer service but really bad at explaining WUP.

Regarding Waves WUP, I could be wrong but I think you can use your expired plugins to get upgrade discounts to bundles.

Uncle E speaks truth.
I have upgraded to a bundle using a WUP-expired plug without having to renew; the bundle then has a year of WUP.

Just wondering, how much did you guys spend with PA til you get your first $25 voucher? (personalized voucher, not the survey one that requires minimum purchases)

June 2018 for a sale of Komplete Ultimate 12? Very, very unlikely. In all likehood, it might even not be released. So far, not a lot of new stuff since the release of KU11 less than a year ago.Kalamata Kid wrote:Sorry to return to the Komplete topic but need help
for someone to check my figures.
Let me see if I have this right:
2017
K2 to K11 $300
K2 to K11 June 2017 sale $200
K11 to K11U $400
K11 to K11U June 2017 sale $300
2018?
K11 to K12 $300
K11 to K12 $200 June 2018 sale?
K11 to K12U $400
K11 to K12U $300 June 2018 sale?
K11U to K12U $400
K11U to K12U $300 June 2018 sale?
I am on K11 and will likely wait for K12U release to upgrade.
If the upgrade does not look great I just may go from the current K11 to K12
and wait the summer sale to get K12U
Makes sense?
Looking for the cheapest way but will consider an economical way to do this.
Or best to get K11U now? Trying to stay withing my budgetary constraints.
I would say it's more likely that a sale would not be until summer 2019.

Ah, I heard some complaints in the other areas (or was it another board) that some of the Apple updates messed up the Wave plugins. I don't have a Mac, so I don't know how true it is. It probably happened to someone once, and that meant it always happens...soundbylaura wrote:I have a Mac and Sierra (most recent OS) and most of my Waves plugs are out of WUP. This is true. I didn't WUP for years because I would just upgrade to the next bundle which automatically reset the WUP.Uncle E wrote:Regarding Waves WUP, I could be wrong but I think you can use your expired plugins to get upgrade discounts to bundles.
