Yes, it was worth mentionning that.Melodioso wrote: It's really cool that you are doing side by side comparison of real amps and your sim. You're the only one doing it.

One man that know what is LegacyMelodioso wrote: Anyway, MW, I listened to your Carvin emulation (Carv D-R). On a positive side, it sounds very close to the original. The character is almost identical. Almost, because your sound seems to have lots of high frequencies that should not be here (to my ears). From ~6730 Hz to the end of the spectrum, your sim produces material that sounds harsh (like a high frequency booster was on). I put a low-pass filter to dampen these frequencies, and it sounded much better (or much closer)! What do you think?
On a negative side, I'm sure this is not the best sound you can get out of a Legacy. Yes, it can sound like this. It kind of reminds me when I was miking my amp a long time ago (with an old fostex tape recorder), and some old Flex-able Vai stuff. The real amp, in your MP3, is dull and "lifeless". I'm sure the kind of mic and its placement has a lot to do with it. I understand why you want post a demo with no EQ, but would you care then to post one with EQ and some reverb, so we can really here how it sounds like? At its best?
I can't comment your Flux demo, please just take a look at its waveform... looks like you added 6db to the final mix and then bounced it.
It's really cool that you are doing side by side comparison of real amps and your sim. You're the only one doing it.
Keep up the good work!

I love the way the distortion tapers smoothly with the decay in this demo. That's usually hard to do with the current crop of amp sims.Midiworks wrote:http://www.soundspectral.com/Demos/Flux.mp3
