The most underestimated synths...

I'm not sure in what way some of the synths mentioned here, that also can be found among the most popular at KVR, would be some of the "most underesimtated".
In fact and IMHO some of those are some of the more overestimated. As they're mentioned so often as if there wasn't anything else around.

You know why sfd? I'd tell you but then it'll only end up turning this thread into a shit storm.sfd wrote:I'm not sure in what way some of the synths mentioned here, that also can be found among the most popular at KVR, would be some of the "most underesimtated".

But thank you for pointing this out.
Synthmaster, underestimated? Synth of the year at least one year that I know of, underestimated?
These threads are as stupid as...never mind. Not going to finish that sentence.
But it's oh so tempting.

Music Radar synth of the year either last year or the year before.chk071 wrote:Synth of the year? On KVR?

I was about to say Surge, but it doesn't seem to work in Bitwig 2. Can't select waveforms for a start. Anyone else?

Ah... well, let's not forget that KV331 sent out newsletters to Synthmaster customers with the request to vote in that poll. So, this one especially has to be taken with a pinch of salt. Or with a whole bag full of it. These guys simply know how marketing, on the base of popular products, works.wagtunes wrote:Music Radar synth of the year either last year or the year before.chk071 wrote:Synth of the year? On KVR?

Point is, if the synth didn't sell like hotcakes, it wouldn't matter. The fact that there are that many KVR members who own it that it was able to beat out every other synth on the planet makes the synth anything but underestimated. It's like saying Serum (top 5) is underestimated.chk071 wrote:Ah... well, let's not forget that KV331 sent out newsletters to Synthmaster customers with the request to vote in that poll. The thread is just stupid, period.

@wagtunes No need to say anything more. It's perfectly clear the way you put it anyway
Synth1 has been (and sitll is) ranked as the , hby far, most popular freebie synth at KVR..for ages. Of course thats' becase it's one of the "mos tunderesitmate" synths.
Not to mention some syntths by a very U-nknown and forgotten developer who's fan-boys are just as rare at KVR as striped horses. None, not even ONE, of this developer's syntths are even near the top ranks of KVR.
Indeed, some of those synths are clearly witout any doubt some of the "MOST u-nderestiamted".

Well, if i did non-stop sales, and even would charge $10 for my anyway non-expensive synth at some point, i'd probably sell like hot cakes too.wagtunes wrote:Point is, if the synth didn't sell like hotcakes, it wouldn't matter.chk071 wrote:Ah... well, let's not forget that KV331 sent out newsletters to Synthmaster customers with the request to vote in that poll. True, but besides the point of this thread.chk071 wrote:Well, if i did non-stop sales, and even would charge $10 for my anyway non-expensive synth at some point, i'd probably sell like hot cakes too.wagtunes wrote:Point is, if the synth didn't sell like hotcakes, it wouldn't matter.chk071 wrote:Ah... well, let's not forget that KV331 sent out newsletters to Synthmaster customers with the request to vote in that poll. On KVR?They simply seem to have another business model. Instead of charging $149 or more, like everyone else, they want to grab a big pool of customers. Frankly, that could backfire though, when you can't handle the support requests at all (hint hint, if you read this forum frequently, you probably have faced people already, who wondered why their support requests weren't replied from KV331).
Bottom Line: In a thread where we're talking about underestimated synths (whatever the hell that even means anyway because I still have no clue) Synthmaster belongs nowhere in the conversation.
As a lot of other synths in this pointless thread.

If I could mention truly underestimated synths and which are very rarely mentioned at KVR, I would cite:
- AAS - String Studio (wonderful and yet very rarely mentioned at KVR)
- AudioRealism - ReDominator
- Benoit Serrano - Anubis 2
- Benoit Serrano - Cosmos
- Benoit Serrano - Dionysos EX
- Benoit Serrano - Hades XT
- Benoit Serrano - Horus (and Horus MK-II)
- Benoit Serrano - Orpheus (and Orpheus 2)
- Benoit Serrano - Selena
- Cescato - Trans Computer Maschine
- Gunnar Ekornas - Messiah
- Kenneth Rundt - Synthfont (the standalone edition, incredibly good in its special domain which is at the same time the most comprehensive SF2 player (and some other sample formats) and a kind of very comprehensive DAW)
- KX77Free - KX-Modulad
- KX77Free - KX-Polymod
- KX77Free - KX-Polym-CSE
- KX77Free - KX-Synth-X16
- LinPlug - CRX4
- LinPlug - Morphox
- LinPlug - Octopus (it has been discontinued precisely BECAUSE if its huge underestimation)
- LinPlug - SaxLab
- LinPlug - Spectral
- ML-VST - PG-8X (apart its own thread it is never mentioned anywhere despite its huge quality)
- NuSofting - DaHornet
- NuSofting - EMM Knagalis
- NuSofting - Modelonia (despite its huge quality, who talk about it outside its own thread ?)
- NuSofting - Strings Dream Synth
- Wolfgang Palm - Plex2
- XILS-LAB Oxium

See, now this is a really nice list. I just downloaded the 64 bit KX synths (only reason I didn't use them prior) and will be purchasing Oxium shortly. Serrano's synths are also very cool but sadly 32 bit so I can't use them.BlackWinny wrote:If I could mention truly underestimated synths and which are very rarely mentioned at KVR, I would cite:
These are not necessarily top notch synths of the world, some have even better competitors by other brands... but in that list above, they all are authentically underestimated. And I have many other examples...

String Studio usually gets mentioned any time anyone asks about physical modeling or string synths, and several have said it's their favorite AAS VST. I don't think people underestimate it; some people just don't need those sorts of sounds much.
The rest of your list is good though
