Hey, it's only a couple hundred bucks but still, I want to deal with a company I can at least communicate with. These guys don't seem to give a flying one about their customers. They like to take orders, but they're not so interested in giving them back.

How does saying "let's get back to the subject of the thread" get us back to the subject of the thread? Wouldn't actual content relating to the subject of the thread do a far better job?
Now, as to midi out--the two major shortcomings of the Yamaha EZ-EG are thus:
1. Its note-offs on removal of your fret fingers. The way it handles hammer-ons and offs worked quite well for its internal sounds, but when you tried the same stuff on an external midi device, chaos ensued. You needed to use a complicated midi filter to remove it. This is why it was so annoying getting nothing but internal sounds demos on the YRG--it can mask serious deficiencies in the midi-out data.
2. Its channel outputs were hard-wired crazily, different strings output on different channels and unless you were playing a midi device that converted everything to mono/channel one it was a train wreck. Another thing that had to be handled in a midi filter app. Nightmare.
Now, do we know if the YRG might have any of these problems? I think most of us would be quite happy with all strings outputting to one channel.

I believe the YRG has a poly mode.
I have no way to confirm or deny the hammer on/ pull off settings of the YRG

I seem to remember seeing hammer-ons working in some of the acoustic demos with the onboard sounds. And they mention double-tapping as possible which is essentially the same thing. Hope that doesn't create a problem on midi out, it sure did on the EZ. It would be great if they had switchable channel modes. Send 1-16 would be fine.

I intended this thread to have a particular purpose. Now it's a 13 page mess.
It's no longer what I intended so i'm out of here.
If you need any info, you can get it from Maruuk.
I will recommend to anyone who receives the guitar to not remove it from it's plastic wrap which voids the warranty. I'd wait until you hear the real dope on how well it tracks and outputs midi to seqrs.
If you remove the wrap, you just bought a $200 guitar internal sample player you may not have a use for.
Read the warranty. I believe it's in the manual I posted in the 1st couple of pages somewhere.
I was just wondering why "midivox" got banned and I found this:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... highlight=
Looks like his intentions were to push the guitar by pushing it's internal sounds.
Doesn't exactly make me feel like i'm about to receive a midi guitar controller that will work well with VSTi.
The company has had many chances to show this but has not shown it to a point that removes all doubt.
Kevin once told me that if I would make a demo vid he would send me one. (in so many words)
I mentioned how I would use it to demo how it could be used to make acid basslines and basically dance lines.
Well, I didn't get a reply from him and no guitar.
It makes me wonder, maybe the guitar is not capable of the precision it would need to track those sort of rhythmic lines.
It's no longer what I intended so i'm out of here.

reasonable points of of contention, and lack of factory/owner
participation. I've seen far greater verbage over much less expensive
gear that was a failure after arrival, and this is just speculation over
a device with the all too common late-launch syndrome, with people expecting
consistency in the preorder agreements. IK and NI have reps at kvr to smoothe
things over, and relay 'situations' that arise, urok can do the same.
If it were a KVR branded mess, it would be 113 pages with a tall plume of smoke, assuming the mods were asleep at the wheel for a day or two.

it would if I were participating in the thread; as a mod, I was just trying to suggest getting back talking about the subject.Maruuk wrote:How does saying "let's get back to the subject of the thread" get us back to the subject of the thread? Midivox is a tool who's polluting more than just KVR.annode wrote:I intended this thread to have a particular purpose. Now it's a 13 page mess.

As for fears of how well the YRG works for MIDI, I'm somewhat encouraged by the two vides Mattias has done; I suppose they could be faked, but it appears legitimate. And if you really want to be careful, you can always just buy one from Best Buy when they make their way there. At least then you can probably return it.

Kevin has posted on Yahoo that they will begin shipping by the "End of week", which is either this week or next. He said backorders will be filled by end of next week, which is a significant development.
So it looks like this product will see the light of day after all.
But it might be wise to wait for a review from someone here. Who knows what this thing is like. You can't tell much from what we've seen.

Actually a finger-style block-picking method on the right hand is ideal for midi guitar since it allows you to strike a block of notes simultaneously a la a keyboard, so midivox has a point there.
Lemme get this straight, this product essentially has ZERO WARRANTY because the instant you access it for playing beyond its wrapping, you have officially voided the warranty? They're kidding, right? I did see mention of this above but I assumed it was a misunderstanding or a joke. I'm sure that would never hold muster with the Attorney General of California. Who'd be crazy enough to buy any product with no warranty?
