I just use Soundflower to route the audio coming from Logic into Live. Logic Pro X is 199,- Some synths cost a 199,-Cinebient wrote:You cold route MainStage into Live.

.
This must be the most expensive upgrade price of a vst synth ever !!
We bought the synth, we helped the company to improve it, some did sound design too.
We were looking forward to see how many of our great ideas would be implemented in Alchemy v. 2
And now to get the Alchemy 2 upgrade the price is (for win users)
Buy a Mac computer
Buy Logic Pro X
They could at least have given it another name than Alchemy...
I am just a little bit pissed about Camel Audio to be honest... just a little

Yea, customer-wise it's a dick move.
10 bucks says he won't dare to post here again.

Buying a dongle to use a synth seems quite reasonable now.

Yeah, if this could encourage Steinberg to lower the price of Halion 5 for Cubase users, something good could come out of thisRobmobius wrote:Might even encourage other DAWs devs to do the same. You could say that Vemberaudio's Surge, in some capacity anyway, went over to Bitwig (afaik). Nice job from the BW guys.
Nah, great news to all the Mac / LPX users.

I never got tempted to buy a Mac since Windows 7 arrive and now with Windows 10 (which i got as a free upgrade...) chances taht i will get a Mac in the near future is close to zero.C-note wrote:Apple is not restricting you in any way from using Alchemy - Just buy a MAC and Logic.mutantdog wrote:Okay, here is why I am pissed off at Apple.
Mainly though, I'm angry at Apple because of their power, I'm angry that they can and will restrict the availability of a product in such a way. I'm not surprised, this is exactly their modus operandi. I know that, Camel knew that. Nevertheless, I don't like it.
FWIW i sold Alchemy last year before all that trouble had started. Currently i not really feel like i miss it.
Concerning "Apple ruling the world" i am sure that there are still MUCH more PC/Windows users than Mac users out there. The overall amount of people that use other hosts than Logic should be bigger too. Even if i would change to a Mac i am not sure if i would use Logic at all.

To keep up with the competition, other DAW manufactures need to offer better deals now, that's for sureKullervo wrote:Yeah, if this could encourage Steinberg to lower the price of Halion 5 for Cubase users, something good could come out of this

Depends on whether the "competition" sees Logic as competition.Numanoid wrote:To keep up with the competition, other DAW manufactures need to offer better deals now, that's for sureKullervo wrote:Yeah, if this could encourage Steinberg to lower the price of Halion 5 for Cubase users, something good could come out of this

Logic offers more for a long time already. but it's MAC. and most of us prefer Windows while having a Big Mac.

Update from the other thread:
After testing some old patches in the new version the conclusion is: they sound all wrong, the saved snapshots sound nothing like they're supposed to, all old sounds need to be re-programmed in order to use them in Alchemy 2. Obviously many parameter assignments have been changed, especially filter resonance levels. So this is similar to the incompatibility from Iris 1 -> Iris 2.

Cubase and Live are big on OSX arent they? And they usually cost a bit to upgrade, when that time comes around again, they need to have some aces in the hole then...chk071 wrote:Depends on whether the "competition" sees Logic as competition. Most DAW's are also (or mainly) Windows based, and i figure that most people wouldn't consider switching to a Mac just because of Logic, or Alchemy.
It certainly makes it more difficult for Image Line to steal any of the market when they get round to putting out FL Studio on OSX

Yeah, I remember what happened when Logic PC was killed (and was one of those affected, having already gone through it once before when Logic Atari was killed)... you think it's bad now, it was horrendous back then (but everyone got over it, in time!)tristan- wrote:some of the comments here are pasted directly from the end of emagic days here
