I think there are some handy features in the new version and the cost is minimal. Seems like lots of complaining just to complain.

Yes after watching those videos I think I will do the upgrade. There are a lot of little additions that will make life easier. In particular I really like being able to import tracks directly from another project. I also like the drum map changes and the midi editing. The cloud stuff I will never use nor will I use the profile things but the rest are just about worth it.

I learned from the past two releases (7.5 and 8 ) that I should wait a few months before upgrading... they always smooth out some bugs after release.

It's pretty good, actually. The overall gui/workflow changes are effective (except for those side-window pop-outs...totally annoying), Retrologue is has been overhauled more than it first seems, and the drum map changes are *so welcomed*. The VST transit looks like it gives you, among other things, 500 mb free storage. Less "flutter" with ASIO guard - if that makes any sense - as well.

Neat. I'm looking forward to it. But I initially heard the same type of comments with the other two releases before the bugaboos were found. So I will hang out on the bench for awhile.

I think I will do the same thing here.
It looks like a good DAW but I am going to see how it works out for others.

Wish they'd sort out a decent patch browser - unless Im missing something.VitaminD wrote:shhh.tristan- wrote:guys, retrologue 2 is an amazing synth!
TBH £36 not a big deal so dived in. Few initial observations.
Like the new Transport GUI - sure many may disagree.
-The new insert layout is good and took a few clicks to get used to.
-Still not fixed preset recall when saving a preset ie fxchain. Have to close Cubase and reload for the folder or preset to show in the list!!! grrrr
-Mediabay still appears to not automatically update when clicking on a new folder - quick rescan click required again - grrr!
-Hit a bug (pretty sure I didnt hit any keys) did an on the fly edit of multi tracks, deleted a block, ie measure 97-105 and dragged the project from 105 to the end, to the measure position 97, audio dropped out. Had to closed and reload. Still no sound and noticed somehow the audio group (which was only the drum buss affected) had somehow engaged the green [R] read controller data and the audio slider was set at zero? Maybe I hit anew shortcut, but nothing I recall doing in error. Im fairly slick usually so need to try and replicate.
-The locator markers on the top of the layout panel take a little practice in picking up when dragging and relocating, particularly when playback is in use and the vertical playback marker is within a few measures from where you are trying to adjust the markers.
-ASIO usage seems to have more overhead - but I would not swear by it!
Not made use of the new edge function selection features yet.
Need to test the VCA and see if the audio channel dropout issue is still occurring.
Overall content and a seemless upgrade, appears to have imported everything ok from previous version (8.0.3) without an issue.
I'm happy.
Running on Windows10x64, Cubase 8.5x64, RME drivers.

I just had a quick test and I am liking it, only negative was a crash on exit, I am hoping that was a one off

Not experienced that at all. open closed it half a dozen times with dozen plus plugins loaded. maybe one of your vst causing it?Keith99 wrote:I just had a quick test and I am liking it, only negative was a crash on exit, I am hoping that was a one off
