I just wish someone can answer this question as it's my top 1 feature keeping me away from switching fully to bitwig.
there's no groove pool nor groove extraction.
Thanks for your reply! Do you know as a fact as in you tried it your self or just speculation?

Unfortunately from the first look of the video there is nothing showing just a feature..

if you are new to Bitwig, you pay 379€ + 169€ + 169€ for a continuously updated license within 3 years. 717€ in total.
if you are new to Ableton, you pay 349€ for the Standard version, which has a similar feature set. (Live 8 and Live 9 last(ed)s more than 3 years).
if you are new to Cubase Artist, you pay 329€. you need 2 paid updates, one for 49€, one for 99€. 477€ in total.
if you buy Logic, you pay 199€ and you'll be happy for about 2 1/2 years.
if you buy Reason, you could be equally pissed like with Bitwig after 3 years.
if you buy Reaper or Tracktion, you'll need some additional vstis. so it depends on you, how cheap or pricey it will be.

Bitwig 2 will be an expensive option.

mmm.. I wouldn't compare it to the standard version of Ableton. some of Bitwig's native devices are similar to ableton's max for live essential devices that comes with the suite. (a bit different but yeah) the LFO, poli, xy... etc.. and the suite is around $600-$700 isn't it.

Lucky me, I bought Studio One before 6th December 2016.

Unofficial forum seems abandonned. Very peculiar.
I never make mistakes; I just blame others.

But it doesn't come with as much content as Standard, and if you compare to suite it is even more instruments, a modular environment and Simpler which is fantastic.

Actually i don't like max for live, and I never use it in production, i have my own vst who work great for me and i don't need to pay 700 for crap! :phones:
Mac OSX, Bitwig Studio, Spire, Massive

for me it's simple.
i was quite excited about this DAW when it was announced and kept an eye on the news about it. i clearly remember the promise of modular environment in ver. 2 and i don't see this in the feature list. this answers all my questions about licensing model (which relies on trust) and my wanting to switch from Ableton Live. a simple no.
good luck tho

lol ... You asked for a phaser, we built a phaser.

Wasnt the idea we build them ourself? just kidding. :-)

The new upgrade program means that the longer you can hold on to your current version after the 12 month period the better deal you will make when you finally pay for a new 12 months cycle in the future. I don't find this problematic since I often stick with old versions of software to maximize stability and make it easier for me to calculate how much time I will need to get certain jobs done; essential when negotiating your price with clients.

What a luck!
I bought my first daw bitwig for $199 for their thanksgiving sale. Now I have to pay $169 for the upgrade so i am paying $368 for 2.0 version( as opposed to $299) . So how exactly is this a "sale" when I am actually having to pay more money. Nice thanks they gave for thanksgiving

I don't mind paying but I feel this company is dishonest and slimy and doesn't deserve my money.
but the price for 2.0 will not be $299, which is the actual 1.3.15 price. it will be more like $399. i am sure they even calculated the $169 for one good reason (which i will not explain here)^^.

That's a good point. I rarely use factory content or devices. Think I'd have to if I stuck with Bitwig and paid for the upgrade. :D

But that is 'major release cycles'-approacg - with ongoing development there is no 'maximised stable version' .... that is the point - you might always be stuck in-between - halfway stable ..... that is the point.
Also what is the point of offering a 12 month 'covered-period' if the major plan is not to have customers pay continuously? That is the whole point of such a concept.

And how is it if you have an issue (not the issue of Bitwig as you are not covered after 12 months ) - if the community really all have different states of the software .... With major release cycles one can say last release for major version x or y, etc.

best
