It's a wavetable synth? There is of course the first question: how it's comparable with the competitors like Serum.

It's better to compare with Thorn as the two have similar filter design that Serum lacks.

Thorn has one global Spectral filter but Europa has one for every Engine (oscillator). It also uses less CPU. Thorn is cheaper and with more flexible development.

There are other differences, like midi learn, two traditional filters, built in Sequencer/ARP in Thorn. So, as VST I prefer Thorn, but in Reason I prefer Europa due to connection flexibility with other devices.

I can open Europa in Komplete Kontrol, but in Mashine software Europa is nowhere to be found... am istill missing something?

I think the Maschine user library path is different to KK so you need to add that manually in options then rescan

ok, i had to select to rescan the user map on start every time & now it loads. i don't see an image tough & i cannot select presets from the browser, but the macro's work, so that's a start

Images are there but you have to put them in the right locations

No presets as yet - it takes a lot of work to save out 500+ presets to nks so I'll leave that to someone who can script this. My priority was getting hands-on control and being able to load it via the keyboard first of all.

Just a heads up to anyone who doesn't currently own the FULL version of Reason 10. The free offer only applies to existing Reason 10 owners. Buying new or upgrading now or in the future will not gain you the free VST license for Europa. This information came from Lars at Propellerhead.

According to their landing page, Europa VST is "free to all Reason 10 owners". There is no exclusion to new or future R10 buyers.

It's good. Don't believe all the trolls here. Sounds is nice and modern. CPU usage is really low. Most of the patch eat my 8600k 1-5%. Even 5 note chords playing pad sounds took only 3-5%. However, there is no macros, no copy paste to engine settings, no presets browser and some other minor flaws, but it is a good synth. Download the demo and test it out

Considering $129 for an upgrade from Reason 8 to 10 and $99 for Europa, the $129 was definitely the better option, but may all be moot now.
For yearsssss I wanted Reason as a vsti....sort of I guess now what Maschine is, a standalone or a plugin...yearssss... I gave up about five years ago...
But this seems that they may slowly bring components over to the vst world.

I guarantee one thing, Propellerhead didn't market a VST synth for 'advertising purposes' that you think would bomb, in hopes that PH raises positive awareness of Reason as a DAW - its counter-intuitive on every level. Europa isn't worth it to me, but there's far more people who have no clue nor care - they'll plunk down their hard earned money and justify it vehemently whether sincerely happy or not. People who need a DAW knows about Reason and the other dozen choices, Propellerhead doesn't need a baby serum/expanse to raise awareness of their DAW.

I actually think they did (make it for marketing purposes), but not how you think - it's a sales pitch to current VST devs, telling them to start developing REs and Props will convert them to VST / AU / web formats for them, will sell them from their shop and provide one more pool of users to sell to.

One thing their 'demonstration' was missing IMO, was a) some better piracy protection, b) ability to install, sync & update the VST via Props account, like you can with REs. If this worked, I wouldn't buy my VSTs anywhere else

Since Mattias and other Props are watching this thread. Here are the FR's!

- Copy paste engine settings
- Right click to knobs -> lock option to all the knobs. This is handy when you want to keep some settings, like ADSR and the you change presets, ADSR settings stays as they are locked.. you know..
- "Save default settings" like zoom level, init osc, whatsoever, that when you load up Europa, it would have always same zoom level / other settings
- Double click to knobs = reset default value (pretty much default feature on all synths)
- Mousewheel support!!!
- Preset browser
- Next / prew arrow keys to waveform browsing
- Perhaps option to change the red color to blue, green, white - whatsoever
- More ENV's and LFO's..?
- Drag and drop modulation assing?

This is just a question, but it seems that all the engines are routed to main AMP ASDR...? It would be nice route engine 1 to ENV1 and engine 2 to ENV2 and so on.. Do I miss something and this is already possible?

Loving the sound, it's nice and fat. Loving that CPU usage is super low. Synth is winner, it just need some love to get perfect

Yes... But its not double click.. Check out Spire, Sylenth, U-he stuff, Thor, Serum etc, all the synth has this double click = default value. That is just standard on these days...
