Not sure, but I checked the manual and didn't see that name in the credits or "special thanks to..." etc., but on the Arturia Mellotron page it says: *Mellotron® is a registered trademark of Mellotron.comsvart wrote: Fri Apr 26, 2019 6:33 pm So is the Mellotron V somehow a collaboration with Markus Resch?

Afaicr, the 230S just uses standard CZ-101-format patch dumps, but only has a few specific memory locations it can dump to. If you're stuck, PM me some example patch files and I'll have a look at them, it should be easy enough to convert them into something readable by the plugin...andrew71 wrote: Fri Apr 26, 2019 6:50 pm Sadly, the CZ doesn't appear to like my CZ230S sysex dumps. The CZ230S was my first synthesizer and has a special place in my heart. I used to have two of them sync'd over MIDI and used the internal sequencers to copy chart songs at the time. I'd like to be able to have those patches again.

Thanks, that's what I thought (Didn't find anything in the manual either). They probably paid them to use the name then...Examigan wrote: Fri Apr 26, 2019 7:12 pmNot sure, but I checked the manual and didn't see that name in the credits or "special thanks to..." etc., but on the Arturia Mellotron page it says: *Mellotron® is a registered trademark of Mellotron.comsvart wrote: Fri Apr 26, 2019 6:33 pm So is the Mellotron V somehow a collaboration with Markus Resch?

Anyway, very satisfied with the MTPro with the Streetly extensions and the Chamberlin, and Gforce seem to have planned a bigger GUI (soon hopefully...), which is too small now (my only minor issue with it, maybe an updated browser too). So I don't need the Arturia one. Probably nice for those who find the Gforce with extensions too expensive...

Thanks. I’ve also got Virtual CZ, which can read them, so I might be able to convert them using that.beely wrote: Fri Apr 26, 2019 7:35 pmAfaicr, the 230S just uses standard CZ-101-format patch dumps, but only has a few specific memory locations it can dump to. Yep, me too, along with other CZ tools on various platforms. Anyway, if you get stuck, give me a shout and I'll try to help...

It's exactly the same like it is with NI Komplete: I usually skip an upgrade from time to time to compensate my cost. Now to come back to Arturia i can upgrade from v4 to v7 for $199. That is okay and i can't complain really but of course i understand your disappointment.superscan wrote: Fri Apr 26, 2019 5:19 pm I’ll be passing on this one, $199 is not appealing for a product I’ve upgraded since v3.

They are all sound, yes! Do people treat them like that though (Arturia included)? I don't think so. The emphasis is on accurate modelling of an experience in an easy to access and digest way.SLiC wrote: Fri Apr 26, 2019 4:58 pmSo true, and also with analog synths, the subtle differences in sound are often lost in the recording process/mix....its only really live you hear it.chk071 wrote: Fri Apr 26, 2019 4:41 pm
Bad comparison. With soft synths, you have exactly the same sonic experience as with hardware synths. The only thing which differs is the operation. Or - when talking about analog synths - the subtle differences in sound. Of course you can argue that that's the essence of the experience, and, i'd even understand that partly. Still, virtual synthesizers also make sound, and that's what's important.
If you want sound there are many cheaper or free synths that can get you the sound.
Arturia are selling an emulated experience - you pay for the brands.
But are they accurate to the experience of playing the source (and should that even be a factor in choosing a softsynth?) I don't think so. Because interacting with many of the synths they have chosen isn't just about the sound - it's also about the interaction (especially the Arp, Easel and Synthi) and that is something you can't get with software - even if you use controllers.
I think they are no more realistic than a flight simulator, hence the analogy. That doesn't make them bad... just not really comparable.
And much as I LOL'd at some of the responses I'm not literally saying synthesis should be about mind-numbing boredom or fear of death. My previous rant was made close to midnight at the end of a drinking session so please adjust your expectations accordingly.

Should I be surprised some don't know what a Synclavier is?WolfKay wrote: Fri Apr 26, 2019 2:54 pm+ 1000Spirit2017 wrote: Fri Apr 26, 2019 2:41 pm Arturia its time for additive emulations like the Kawai K5000

Just read all 13 pages and didn’t learn anything new. I think in future there should be two threads. One for moaning about prices and upgrades. And another for discussing the new synths and exchanging tips & ideas.

We can’t discuss and exchange tips & ideas because we can’t download it. Arturia download server/s are poor to be kind. Regarding moaning, that’s Arturias fault, with other companies the products are discussed. In general people who bought v6 don’t think they are getting a good deal and shouldn’t have to wait for the sale.v1o wrote: Sat Apr 27, 2019 1:30 am Just read all 13 pages and didn’t learn anything new. I haven't tried it yet (I'm not sure if I'm going to upgrade yet), but I looked in my products on their site, and B3 V2 is in my downloads. Version 1 was better than I had expected, but the audio demos of Version 2 sound really good. I'm glad the updated version is free for those who have the old one.

Just curious where the info on this can be found. I didn't see anything about it on their site.fmr wrote: Thu Apr 25, 2019 8:43 pm
And Arturia is offering the sounds of Pigments for free to anyone who has any bundle that includes Analog Lab.
