We just need to wait for apple to anounce that they've invented this new thing, called the 'wavetable' ... Though they will probably dub it as something with a bit more flash, like the 'cochlear sense wave differential.'

Any particular system resource discontinued from High Sierra that makes Mojave a requirement? Or is it just an arbitrary requirement Apple pulled out of their ass? I know that Apple eventually required High Sierra as it used frameworking unavailable in regular Sierra.

...and you need the last Mojave update ....otherwise it won't install...

Tested and I am completely sold.

I just put my copy of Live10 standard w/maxforlive up for sale for $240 because this latest Logic update has completely replaced me need for it.

Between this and Bitwig I feel my DAW needs are now completely covered!

It wasn't Emagic. Beyond Logic Audio I think the only other things they made were some software utilities and MIDI interface hardware back in the day. Lengeling did lead development of GarageBand though and they probably co-developed Soundtrack Pro (now discontinued). As far as I'm aware Final Cut was an in-house project from the beginning. I do think iTunes was built on the foundation of an acquired product though; SoundJam? I can't recall the name.

How does this Logic replace M4L?

I must say I'm a bit surprised that this runs on Mojave. Considering the normal MO from Apple, I was completely convinced that it would be a Catalina-only update. Anyway - me happy!

18 years now actually, and Gerhard Lengeling (Emagic founder) is still the lead audio/music apps director at Apple, even after all this time.
18 years? Wow.

For some on KVR it's like it was yesterday...

Logic is always backward compatible by one (and then 2 in autumn) OSes. This computer won't be seeing Catalina, though.

Final Cut developed by Macromedia Inc. later acquired by Apple. The company itself later bought by Adobe.

How does this Logic replace M4L?
You realize not everyone uses M4L to build their own devices or make audio-visual shows? Most just use it to run 3rd party devices that someone else made that fill in the gaps in Live's feature-set. Lots of those devices are easy to replace either by native DAW's functionality or plugins.

I've Live 10 Suite in 90% because only that version has LFOs :D

macromedia.

iirc, it was still in early stages and unreleased when apple bought it.
i guess that explains the similarities between the first premiere and fcp versions.

Thanks for clearing that up. What I find fascinating as I read more about this is how influential Randy Ubillos was, behind both Macromedia Final Cut *and* Adobe Premiere. So, Apple acquires the initial Final Cut source code, he leaves Adobe, and then joins Apple to release FCP, iMovie and even the ground-up overhauled FCPX.

fwiw i think the FCPX overhaul is incredible, although premature. at 10.4, it's one of the most approachable and still insanely powerful editing softwares in the market. i don't think Premiere can do anything that FCPX can't.

Jesus christ people.. :clown:

Generous - Larger or more plentiful than is usual or necessary
Generous - Giving more than is expected (relative to other DAWs)

Stop projecting your elementary school moralist spin onto others

If there are multiple interpretations, just assume the most reasonable one and go on with your day
