It installs with the application. At least on Mac you find it in the Applications folder under Korg/Wavestate Native/Documentation.
I found it, thanks!
It was in 'Program Files/Korg/Wavestate Native' directory of Windows 10.

Ok I've used the Sample Builder program to create a ".korgcompiledbank" file. I've pointed Wavestate to that bank file in Settings/User Sample Bank.

But it's not showing up in the browser. So I wonder if that's a demo limitation or simply user error? Anyone else give the Sample Builder a go yet? Seems pretty powerful as it mapped the samples automatically...or at least I think it did but won't know for sure until I can hear the results.

"The wavestate native has a demo version* that allows you to try out almost all its features for free.
Please give it a try for now to get a glimpse of the possibilities that await you.

*KORG ID account is required.
*The software can only be used for 20 minutes at a time.
*The ability to save edited programs is disabled."

If you can't save programs, I doubt if you can load sample banks.
It also says you can "try out almost all its features",
but it doesn't specify which ones you can't.

It has a fully flexible matrix, completely customizable waveforms and tons of modulation capabilities (sequencers/complex envelopes etc). Because I have Sytrus available I'm less inclined to buy OPSiX.. and for DX stuff I have the grand daddy Plogue OPS7 which to my ears sounds the closest to an actual DX7.
No, it is Reason Studio's Algorithm. 9 operators, FM, VA, Wavemod, Filter, free routing, FX section.

Post

Sytrus doesn't do stuff like filter FM, wavefolder, or effect operators. Reason's Algorithm is indeed a better comparison.

If you go to Options --> Manual, does it open that file or point you to a PDF on Korg's website? If the latter, could you post the link?

I didn't see it in the menus in the plugin, but you'll get the manual if you install the demo.

Installed the demo, and... well that's freaking weird.

opsix has a "Manual" entry in its options which as I mentioned redirect to the website:

wavestate... doesn't.

It looks like they're using different GUI engines for the apps. Maybe that explains the disparity in CPU usage when idle.

Post

All Korg plugins are using JUCE, so the GUI engine is the same. But UX is quite different between plugins.

Post

Fair enough. But opsix sure is doing something weird. Here's the CPU usage after a few minutes of startup but not playing any notes:

Yes, it's grinding away even if you aren't playing any voices. Like the Roland Cloud ACB stuff does...

Has anyone reported what seems to be a bug with mod assignments? (drag drop doesn’t work as mentioned in the manual, etc)

Post

The opsix 😳. Had not used it before, maybe the perfect FM synth. Thank you Korg.

Just replying to myself here…

This was mentioned earlier in the thread by someone else. Turns out it all works (unless there was a stealth update while I was sleeping, which I’m curious about because I was sure I had tried the same thing yesterday 😂). It just isn’t immediately obvious in the manual the limitations around the fx edit macros.

Too bad Sytrus is no longer sold in the VST format by Image Line.
