Would you pick it over Primavera, or just a different flavor?
*and I just picked up Primarver, but will get into that later today vs later this week.

well the SSL has some spring twang fun potential, and generally sounds great. But its 3 types aren't really like the varied algos in Primavera. Yeah basically different flavours. I love them both a lot. Still use AudioThing Springs a lot too, i think that one is more convolution? Tons of different flavours in there too.

VREV-63 is my favorite on guitar. Another good one is Mixwave's Benson Tall Bird. Both sound like the typical guitar spring sound that I don't get from TENS or even Audio Thing's Springs.

Great reverb but no spring reverb in there.

Personally I think this one is particularly bad - their demonstration/walkthrough video does a fantastic job selling it though, especially given what they had to work with...

did you actually demo it?

SSL SpringVerb seems like it's more of a generic, pure conceptual physical model, where you can add or subtract springs and change their size and tension, similar to UVI Plate; as opposed to Primavera, which is also physically modeled, but modeled on a limited set of specific real-world spring units, with more limited editing capabilities.

If my impression of SSL SpringVerb is correct, it may be the better tool for free range sound design.

The question is, though, can it produce a more realistic Hammond Type 4, RE-201, Fisher K-10, or Great British Spring reverb than the models found in Primavera?
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Yes, extensively - the demo video totally triggered me and with the intro price I was so ready to purchase it - but then demoing it was a total disappointment for me. Your mileage may vary of course.

By the way: what for me was an absolutely pleasant surprise is Wave Alchemy's LoFi Spring (the name is pretty misleading). It's really versatile and can do all sort of classic spring reverbs plus a whole lot more - and it's even still on sale ATM (and I don't think it has been mentioned yet here in this thread):

I don't know if this has already been bout up, but another spring reverb that is often easily overlooked, is the one that comes baked in and Roland Space Echo emulation. I think it's the last setting on the dial that switches it to just reverb.

Lets also not forget the spring reverbs that may come with our guitar amp emulators either.
